monday miscellany

1) Celia is on some sort of sleeping strike. She doesn't go to sleep at nap time. She's wide awake in the middle of the night. At least she doesn't complain; she just plays around in the crib, singing and talking away. Loudly, so I can't sleep either. I'm tired. And when I'm tired I don't feel like working out. Which means I will never get rid of my spare tire. The only thing I can think of is that maybe we're giving her too much sleep time, and we should shorten her naps.

2) Carter's has winter clothes on clearance, so I got Celia some 24 month clothes she can wear into the spring. Also fleece pajamas in the next two sizes, because you can never find warm pajamas once spring hits.

3) I've been wanting to print the last year's worth of blog posts into a book. You would think it would be easy enough, but it's so much work. I've looked into all kinds of options. At this point, I might just not do it.

4) This is going to be a food that doesn't look very appetizing in a picture, but trust me, it was delicious. I made
this lentil walnut loaf on Thursday night. I'd never made one before because, honestly? "Lentil walnut loaf" doesn't sound good, now does it? I don't know about other recipes, but this was so good. It took some prep work, but I did all the prep the night before and it was very easy to put together after that.

5) As part of Blub's evil plan to do Ira in, he decided the other night to give him to Celia so she could play with him. When I brought Ira to slumber parties as a teenager, I sure couldn't have fathomed that years later my daughter would be playing with him! Anyway, Celia promptly decided to re-name Ira for her own purposes. She brought him downstairs and declared "This my bear. Not Ira. This Baby Bear."

She then put "Baby Bear" in the doll stroller and said, "I see you while, Mommy. I take walk three minutes. See later!"

Oh, and her new thing is that she loves getting into my clothes and putting them on. In that picture she's wearing a bikini bottom and a sports bra. On Friday she piled sports bras around her neck and put on my slippers. On Saturday she put on my underwear, a fancy scarf, and one of my necklaces. Very stylish. I took the best pictures of that, and then lost the memory card.

6) When Chris got home on Friday night, Celia ran to get "Baby Bear" so they could sit at the top of the stairs to greet Daddy. It was really cute.

And yes, at that point she was wearing my bikini bottoms draped around her shoulders.

7) I hate giving up on a book. Yesterday I gave up on finishing one. It's too bad because the setting and storyline were really interesting, but it was very long and dragged on so slowly that I felt like I'd never get through it. I have a long list of other books to get to.

8) The new one I'm starting is called "Life in Year One", and it's about what life was like in first century Palestine.

9) Celia's birthday is coming up. I am terrible at making cakes look pretty, and I would really like to learn how to decorate a cake. Someday I might take a class just for fun. Anyway, I got these with the hope of practicing and making some nice looking cupcakes.

 10) Outfit of the Week:

  1. She is sooo funny with her random pieces of your wardrobe!

I'm like you are about books. I just really don't like giving up on them, but sometimes it takes me 3 months to get through one if they're slow. If they're good, it's just a couple days!

I can't believe she sings so loudly in the middle of the night! LOL

  4. I feel you on the cake decorating. My Q's bd is in two weeks and I'm going to make him a tractor cake.

    *cough*

I'm feeling pretty ambitious about it. Always the worst thing that can happen to a person, when they feel ambitious about something they're really bad at. So...maybe he'll get a round cake, with a tractor sitting on it.

Totally cracking up at her wearing your bikini bottoms! Kids are so obsessed with the funniest things. Q loves my bra. :P

I have also been trying to make blog post into a book, I tried shutterfly and snapfish both too much work for this girl. Supposedly there is a website that will just do it all for you, but I have yet to find it and I am sure when I do it will be too much money. Let's all just hope the internet never crashes ;)
Haha to the bikini bottoms :)

  6. I have looked into those print your blog sites, too. It's not too bad considering. I was thinking of doing it annually, like a yearbook. One of the sites I looked at had a nice option for that. please share whatever you decide :))
