Beautiful sunrise this morning.
Last night we had just started eating dinner when the power went out. At least dinner was already made. Having plenty of experience with power outages, we got things in order pretty quickly. Lanterns lit, headlamps out, fire lit and generator started. The power was only out for about two hours. We are ready to get a second generator and hook one up to an alternate breaker panel for outages. We have them too often. The kids had a great time playing in the dark. They loved having their own headlamps and were walking around the house pretending to inspect power lines. We also have glow sticks that they get to play with when the power goes out.
Today Celia is at school and Henry is home with me. Henry is a little under the weather, with a lot of congestion and a bad cough. He's still in good spirits, though. For example, he feels well enough to enjoy smashing his cereal on the coffee table with his hammer.
We're going to the pediatrician later to have his ears and lungs checked. I know some kids have ended up needing nebulizer treatments with this virus going around.
We have a snow storm coming tonight. Hopefully we won't get much and Celia can still have school tomorrow. She is so excited to go to school on her birthday because they do some special things. She has been talking about it for weeks! I can't believe I'll have a 5-year-old tomorrow.
