1) I don't have much in the way of pictures this week. The last several days have been a bit of a train wreck. On top of Chris's back injury which pretty much puts him out of commission around the house and helping with the baby, I had a stomach bug Thursday and Friday. Luckily it didn't last long, especially because I'm nursing and would hate to have my milk supply damaged by something like getting sick. Very luckily, my parents could come to help me so I only had to make it until 3:00 Thursday by myself, and then I got some extra rest while they watched the littles. I've also had a cough and sore throat, and this morning Celia's voice was hoarse so I'm afraid she's got that now!
2) One good thing came out of the stomach bug. I lost a little weight and haven't gained much of an appetite back, so I'm taking advantage and hoping I can keep losing a little more.
3) Celia is getting excited about her third birthday, which is now less than two weeks away! She keeps asking when it is, so last night I helped her start crossing off the days on the calendar so she can see when her birthday will be. I think she's most excited about having cake :)
4) Speaking of the birthday, between being very busy and getting sick I've done nothing to prepare for Celia's party. We're inviting her daycare friends and no one's responded yet, so I don't even know how many people will come. I must start finding decorations and figure out the cake and everything this week!
5) Henry is 6 weeks old today! I'll do a bigger update at two months, but he's doing really well. He is still sticking to a loose schedule similar to what he was doing at one month. He usually has one long morning and one good afternoon nap, and needs another nap in the evening before his actual bedtime. His last feeding is around 8:30. I dress and swaddle him for bed, feed him, and put him down in his swing to sleep with white noise on. He usually sleeps for a nice long stretch of 6-7 hours, is a little restless between four and six am, and then sleeps well until between 7-8:00 when I get him up for the day. Right now Henry sleeps in the swing in our bedroom. He's doing so well sleeping there that I don't want to change anything right now. I also like being near him during the night, and it's just easier for feeding and checking on him. I'll start trying naps in the crib soon.
Henry continues to be an easy going baby. He loves to be held and walked around so he can look at everything. He loves being talked to, sung to, and smiled at. In the last week he has started cooing in response to being talked to. He smiles and coos, and will have little conversations with us that way. He has also started to enjoy having baths. He continues to get stronger, holding his head up more easily and for longer periods of time. He's still such a good little guy, and since we're already at six weeks it's safe to say that he will not be a colicky baby. The only hurdle on the horizon at this point is getting him to sleep in the crib at some point.
6) Have you or a family member had a herniated disk? That's what Chris has. He goes to PT and I help him stretch at home, but we haven't seen much improvement yet. I wonder how long it will be before he's recovered.
Have a good week!

what a sweet little baby! :) babies! good luck with the party planning, pinterest has some fab, easy ideas! :) also, if you're still coughing... i know this sounds so weird, but- rub vicks on the soles of your feet at night, and sleep in socks. it works, i promise!
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable! Looks so much like his sister! I am glad you are back on track, even if Chris is not. You are going to look back at this time in a few years and wonder where you got the strength to do it! You are rocking it now though.
ReplyDeleteSounds like we have the same immunity levels right now - ugh!
ReplyDeleteI am tired of catching bugs!! :( I used to never get sick.
Henry is so handsome! I wish I would have thought of the swing idea with my first child. I was so scared back then about the whole sleep on your back thing and all it would have been much easier. My friend's newborn son is also sleeping in his swing right now.
Isn't is a little annoying when people don't RSVP? A headcount is really helpful - especially in terms of goodie bags and such!
Hope Chris is better soon - I have heard that is a rough injury.
henry is so cute!
ReplyDeletei'm so sorry you've been sick. it should be illegal for mother's to get germs. but yeah, one benefit i guess is the weight loss. at least something good comes from it.
my hunter is almost 3, also! happy early birthday sweet Celia!!!
