christmas

We had a great Christmas!

On Monday, I had to work and Chris stayed home and worked on insulating part of the basement. Celia had no school, so she went to Debi's with Henry. I picked them up early in the afternoon to take them both to the doctor. Always a fun pre-holiday activity! Celia's ears looked okay, but I know she is having trouble hearing. I'm going to have to get a hearing test for her. Henry had some fluid in his ears, but no infection. He had a low fever and didn't eat much over the weekend. Maybe that was just a virus.

They always like to play in the little house in the doctor's waiting room. Henry read a book by the fire.

On Tuesday (Christmas Eve), we still had to get vegetables for Christmas dinner. We went to the store that has little grocery carts for the kids.

My parents arrived at lunch time. We were home for the rest of the day, playing with the kids and getting some food prepped for Christmas dinner. Chris was in the basement, assembling things from Santa and trying to blow up the enormous trampoline/ball pit he wanted to get the kids. It's a good thing we have a big house, let me tell ya... (Toy assembly requires protective eyewear?)

We had a nice Christmas Eve dinner, the kids had baths and I made a couple of pies, and we got them ready for bed. Chris downloaded a Santa tracker, and Celia was fascinated by that. She kept checking it to see where Santa was, and was a little worried that he would come and she wasn't in bed yet.

The kids both slept until 7:00 on Christmas morning. Once she was up, Celia couldn't wait to open presents. We put it off for a while until everyone had eaten and the kids were dressed. Celia and Henry were both pretty excited about the ball pit.

We had a great day. My parents were here, and Chris's parents came around lunch time. Poor Celia came down with a fever in the afternoon and wasn't feeling well, but she had plenty of people to distract her. She perked up around dinner time and was thrilled to sit between Nana and Nonna. What could possibly be better? We hung out a while longer after dinner, and then everyone went home. We were already cleaned up, and we got the kids ready for bed. They were both exhausted, and poor Celia's fever had gone up again. I gave her a dose of Motrin and she fell asleep during her bedtime story. Then Chris and I just relaxed, reading and watching tv before bed. The kids both slept late in the morning. Henry slept until after 7:00, and Celia wasn't up until 8:15! Her fever was gone and she was feeling much better this morning.

Henry seems to be in a clingy "Mommy Mommy" stage (as we call it) right now. For part of the day he is constantly crying and calling for me if I'm not holding him. It's very tiring. He was that way this morning, so we decided to get out of the house for a while to break up the day. We went to BJ's to look around and see if it was worth getting a membership. There are car shopping carts there, so the kids were happy. Henry and Daddy had a little snuggle snuggle in the paper goods aisle.

I'm not completely on board with the BJ's thing. I think we will save a little money, but I'm not sure how worth it it will be. But if you use a lot of deodorant, maybe it's a good place to go? Haha.

We got home and I played with the kids and put Henry down for his nap while Chris went out for a dumpster bag so we can get rid of some old insulation.

This afternoon I'm going to take advantage of Chris being home- do some organizing, work out, and take a long shower by myself :).
