We had a beautiful weekend. On Saturday morning, Celia wanted to have a "girls' breakfast" so I took her to the local cafe. Meanwhile, Henry helped Chris get paintbrushes at the hardware store. We spent the rest of the day playing at home. It was very warm outside and so nice. We went for some walks and played outside.
We have so many leaves! I wanted to just hire someone to deal with them, but Chris decided at the last minute that he would blow them all into the woods. I think this was an excuse for him to get another toy (high powered leaf blower). We have a big yard and a lot of trees, and despite my warnings he was somehow surprised that he couldn't just blow all the leaves in a couple hours. Ha! Those menfolk just cannot take us at our word, can they? They have to try it for themselves and are then truly surprised when things turn out just as we said they would. Anyway, Henry did not want to play in the leaves. He wanted to watch Daddy.
Playing Ghostbusters, I think.
Time for a walk.
Saturday night, we kept the kids up late because of daylight savings time. We separated the kids and Chris played with Henry while I took Celia upstairs and we played games. It was worth keeping them up late because they woke up at their normal times in the morning. On Sunday morning I went out for a walk and went grocery shopping by myself. I got home and unpacked groceries, washed and prepped produce, and then Chris went outside to work on the leaves. The kids played by themselves a lot, which allowed me to do more in the kitchen. Then after lunch Chris's parents came by, so I got a lot of cooking done (gluten free pumpkin muffins, double batch of shepherd's pie, triple batch of chickpea cacciatore) and then went outside to do yard work for a while.
So, a good weekend and now I'm well prepared for the week!
