halloween

We had a fun Halloween.

Our daycare always has a Halloween party. Debi dresses the kids in their costumes, they have some Halloween food, and we usually attempt some games which is hilarious with a bunch of toddlers. Debi loves doing holiday things with the kids. I have no idea how she does it all on her own.

We went home and had an early dinner, and then went trick-or-treating. It was a little drizzly, but the rain held off and it was an unusually warm night.

By the way, I can't emphasize enough the cuteness factor of having two little people dressed in identical costumes.

There's a street near us that closes to traffic on Halloween. It's a beautiful street lined with historic houses, and the residents decorate like crazy for Halloween night. Lights, jack-o-lanterns, spooky music. One house had a big movie screen on the front lawn, and a tent where they had popcorn and drinks! One of my favorite things is that you get closer look at all the beautiful old houses. Walking up the driveways, getting a peek in the door, etc. A couple home owners actually have the trick-or-treaters go inside to pick out candy. I wish there would be a house tour at Christmas time!

Celia and Henry liked the experience of trick-or-treating, but didn't get a lot of candy. Henry didn't even know he was getting candy. Ha! I told him we were taking a walk in our costumes. He loved it. That night we left the candy out for the Switch Witch, and the candy was replaced by healthy treats. I wasn't sure if Celia would go for this, but she did and was so excited about it. I found some individually packaged freeze-dried fruit, natural fruit snacks, and few pieces of natural candy. Pita was thrilled to find it in the morning. Anyway, it was a good Halloween!
