1) The snow is melting! Our yard is still covered, but we're seeing a little grass around the edges and parts of the flowerbeds by the house have melted. We haven't seen our lawn for a long time. And some springtime friends are popping their heads out under the snow.
2) Pita Girl, ready to go home from school: The ultimate in cuteness and cool.
3) Playing together makes for a lot of drama with these two, but overall they get along awfully well. Celia is such a good big sister to Henry, and Henry just loves to do anything she does. He walks up to her and hugs her all the time.
4) Celia played outside while Chris worked in the garage the other day. She was riding her tricycle and playing with snow. The bobble helmet head is just too much.
5) It's getting cold again later this week, but I'm getting so excited for warmer weather, bare ground, and playing outside.
6) Celia has a big sweet tooth and would eat treats all day if we let her, but luckily she also gets excited about healthy things. At the store this week she begged for grapes, baby potatoes, and this purple cauliflower. Hard to say no to that.
7) Henry is changing a lot lately. He walks more than he crawls, and is talking more and more. His new favorite activity is talking on the phone. He likes getting hold of any phone he can, holds it to his ear, and says "hi". I think he expects someone to actually be there talking to him, so he's probably disappointed. Henry has also been using words more frequently and more independently, and is putting two words together a little more. He isn't necessarily making phrases yet, but this is the precursor. He will say a word and then another word after a little pause. Today he did this a few times: "Mommy, more", "Hi, Roger", or "Debi, bye". Today he also started giving me things and saying "here". When we got home he got my slippers and handed them to me, saying "here!" (I always put my slippers on when we get in the door.) Later on, he had taking his shoe and sock off and I asked him where they were. He gave me his sock ("here!") and then went in the other room. I figured he was going to play somewhere, but he came back with his shoe and gave it to me! He understands and remembers so much. I was worried that he wasn't talking as much as Celia was at 15 months, but he is definitely doing fine now.
8) I need to tell you guys how amazing coconut oil is. Not as something to eat. In fact, don't eat it. It's fat. It solidifies in your arteries, just like it does in the jar. I'm getting off topic. The point is, coconut oil is amazing in another way as a natural anti bacterial agent. Celia has had a yeasty rash on the inside of her thigh for a long time. Like, for two years. It would come and go but never completely go away. I asked the doctor about it multiple times, and only solution she gave was always a prescription cream and a barrier like diaper cream, which never worked. Finally someone on my Facebook group for parents of plant-based diet kids suggested that I try coconut oil, as it's anti fungal and anti bacterial. Amazing. After the first application, the rash was almost completely gone. We've now used it for three days and Celia's skin is completely healed. It kills me that I spent so much time worrying about that rash and trying so many medications on it, when the cure was in the cupboard the whole time. So there ya go. Take the coconut oil out of your cupboard, and put it in the medicine cabinet.
