monday miscellany

1) We had a fairly low-key weekend. Celia went for a sleepover with Chris's parents, so it was just us and the little guy for a day. On Saturday we pretty much just hung out and played with Henry, and went out to walk around at a shopping place in the afternoon to get out of the house. We have so few places to go if we want to get out and walk around somewhere. It's the thing I miss most about living in Boston and in seacoast New Hampshire. Anyway, Henry Boy got bundled up and taken out for an afternoon, and got lots of attention. On Sunday Chris was busy researching insulation for the attic, and Henry skipped his afternoon nap so I was a bit grouchy because I didn't have time to get much done. Henry also didn't sleep well on Saturday night- the one night I was so excited to get a good night's sleep since Celia was away. He's lucky he's cute...

2) Henry has taken to traveling with things hanging from his mouth. (Vegan baby with toy cheese. Oh, the irony.)

3) Pita girl really wants to play baseball. She likes practicing with her t-ball set.

4) I need to come up with a better system for packing everyone's food for the days I work. Like, maybe pack the nonperishables for the whole week on Sundays. It's so overwhelming dealing with it at night. It's really only bad because Henry needs to have milk defrosted and bottles made, and he of course doesn't eat just anything so I have to really plan it. None of us eat pre-packaged or processed food, so it takes some work to make it all.

5) Sometimes I think she thinks she's an adult. She's completely competent at negotiating the grocery store with her own cart, and then guiding the cart to the checkout by herself. She loves unloading the cart and putting things up on the belt at the checkout too. If only she could also pay.

6) Tomorrow night is parents' night at Celia's preschool, so Chris's parents are putting the kids to bed while we go. Should be fun. Leave it to me to think preschool parent night is an exciting date. I was also excited at finding 4 oz canning jars at Walmart today. I excite easily.

7) Today I went to fill out some paperwork for my new job. I have to go get a physical, which is kind of a pain but okay because I'm interested in having some blood work done and this is a good excuse. I know, I'm so weird. And excite easily.

8) Fall is really here now. A lot of leaves came down over the weekend. Today was a warm, beautiful day. The littles and I went for a short walk and played outside as long as we could when we got home this afternoon.
