2) We've been spending late afternoons outside a lot lately. It's been so hot, but after nap time it starts to cool off a little and we play at the water table or put the kiddie pool in the shade.
3) Henry has never been sick, and of all the times for it to happen he has come down with his first cold in July. It came on during the night last night. I knew something probably wasn't right when he woke up at 11:00, then again, and again during the night. Sneezing and coughing, watery eyes, runny nose. Poor little poomba. He has been pretty miserable today.
4) Doesn't he look like a jail bird in that suit?
5) I'm getting really excited about my garden. Nothing but greens and peas so far, but we have much more coming later in the summer. It's just so neat to go out and pick vegetables, and bring them right inside to eat. You can't possibly get more fresh or nutritious than that. It's also amazing to me that I planted tiny seeds, really having no experience as a gardener, and that they've grown into these big plants that will provide us food. I'm already thinking about what I want to plant next year.

7) Actually, that isn't all. I have found the best things on there. Not just interesting images and ideas, but so many practical things. Lots of recipes, and you can find the best household tips. My latest favorite is an easy homemade wasp trap. Gross but useful.
That's all the random I've got for now. Miraculously, both children are down for naps and at least being quiet, if not sleeping. Okay, who am I kidding? Celia's up there awake and doing who knows what, because I hear loud thumping noises. I must take advantage of what's probably limited time. And by that, I mean that it's time to eat some chocolate while I have time to do it secretly.

Several of my coworkers have colds so it is going around. Hope he feels better soon and nobody else in your family gets it.
ReplyDeleteI've only had luck with my tomatoes this year... Not so much anything else in my so called "vegetable garden". My little girl starts preschool this year too; it goes so fast.
ReplyDeletePoor Henry! I'm so sorry he's feeling bad...it broke my heart the first time Beckett got really sick. I hope he feels better soon! And I am so impressed by your garden! I know what you mean about planting tiny seeds and the feeling you get when they actually start growing! I planted some basil and cilantro seeds and when I started seeing green pop through, I *might* have done a happy dance :} And Amen for eating chocolate in secret!
ReplyDeletePreschool is such a fun time! And poor Henry. I hope he feels better soon. I am jealous of anyone who can grow a garden. I don't have much of a green thumb. Enjoy your day today.
ReplyDeleteOh those precious secret chocolate moments!! :) I love your garden! I hope to get one in the works next year. Hope Henry feels better!
