master bedroom

This week's Show Us Your Life link-up is for bedrooms. We have both guest and master bedrooms, but I'll just show the master today. I almost didn't post at all because our bedroom isn't very exciting. We haven't done anything to it since we moved in, so we have old wallpaper, old carpet, and tattered old shades on the windows. The room has four windows, though, and gets beautiful light. It's a nice size and whenever I get around to (in other words, have the budget for) fixing it up and decorating it will be really nice! I'll tell what I plan to do with the room along with the pictures.

Eventually we'll probably take down the wallpaper and paint the room. I will probably keep it a neutral color, either white or grey, because I like calm bedrooms with lots of white and accessories for color. White walls would keep the room nice and light and airy, and grey would make it seem cozier.

For the windows, I want to get nice full white curtains, and I'll have them hung a bit outside of the windows so we still get plenty of natural light.

I'd like to get either a bed skirt or a fitted sheet to cover the boxspring. Using colored fitted sheets would be fun for this. Speaking of color, I haven't come up with much of a color scheme yet but green, pink, and/or pale yellow would all look nice. For some reason I'm also a little obsessed with changing color schemes seasonally. I've never done it but I think it would be fun to change the colors a little with the seasons, or at least for winter and Christmastime.

Izzy always insists on trying to eat this plant, even though it's fake.
There isn't anything on the walls yet, but I do have a mirror to put up. It's a silver color.

That's about all! Not very exciting, but what I picture in my head will look really nice someday.

  1. We have a similar bedroom suit, and I still haven't done anything with my box spring, either. Oh, and I LOVE that antique dresser in the 3rd to last picture. I really want a full length mirror, was yours already on your door or did you add it? Thinking about putting one on the back of our doo, or maybe on the back of my closet door...

  2. That room is going to look great once you have time to work on it! All those windows are great. I totally understand the funding part. Our house is missing baseboards at the moment. I figure we'll get it just the way we want it then sell six months later ;)

  3. So many great windows! And that bedframe is so nice.

  4. If you kept all of the basics as white/neutral, you could accessorize each season "in" with throw pillows, afghans, etc.
Love the ac window unit! As a Southerner, I found it so shocking traveling up north with the Canadian and finding there are folks who are able to live without central air conditioning. :)

  5. I totally get what you mean about not posting because a room isn't all that exciting. But I figure this is "Show Us Your LIFE" and even the non-exciting rooms are still our life. I love all the windows in your room, by the way. Lots of natural light is such a big plus for me.

As you can tell I am a few weeks behind on my blog reading :)
