spring first

What a gorgeous day for the first day of spring! Since it's in the 70s and 80s this week, and I hadn't gotten any summer clothes for Celia and Henry, this morning we went out to get some. Yesterday I had Henry in the cutest little girl's summer outfit from when Celia was a baby- haha! I actually kind of loved using her old clothes again. She had the cutest things that summer. I may still put Henry in some.

It took a while to get out of the house this morning. I had to get Celia ready, give Henry a bath, and then got the car packed and realized I still hadn't fed Henry. Oops. Actually, I didn't realize it until Celia told me! We were getting ready to leave and she said "Mommy, Henry hasn't had his breakfast." Whoa. Good thing someone was on the ball. I fed him and then we left. It was Henry's nap time, so he slept a little in the car. He was awake again once we got to the store, but he was in a good mood. Then we got home in time to play outside before lunch! Celia played in her sandbox and Henry was sleeping again so I left him in the car. Chris had worked from home for the morning, so we walked the yard and talked about our plans for renovating it and then he left for work.

She was making piles of sand on the table. She told me she was making quesadillas. She had a setup where the sandbox was the microwave and the sandbox cover was her refrigerator. Then she was sprinkling more sand on top, and said it was peppermint "because that makes them soft, and hard, and yummy!"
We didn't want to go inside and Henry was still sleeping in the car, so Celia had lunch outside. Then we went in, changed Pita out of very dirty and sandy clothes, and I fed Henry. I wanted to try doing Celia's nap later than usual to see if she'd be more likely to sleep. She went up an hour later than normal, and although she was cranky and tired and pretty much horrible, she didn't nap. She just turns into a monster at nap time. Ugh. I really hope this stage doesn't last long. If she didn't need the nap it would be fine, but she gets so cranky and spends her time just looking for excuses to have tantrums. She will actually purposefully ask for things she knows she can't have, just to have a tantrum! Gah!

Despite the challenging behavior of the three year old girl, they are awfully cute in new too-big summer clothes :)
As I tried getting Pita to nap, Henry was also not sleeping at his usual time because his schedule got thrown off by us going shopping. It's kind of not even worth going anywhere anymore. Now that the weather's nice, I think we'll just stay home more and play outside. Celia will be happy outside and Henry can stick to his nap schedule that way.

Celia has stayed in her room playing for a while, Henry is now napping, and I've had lunch, vacuumed, and worked on laundry. Now Pita's singing at the top of her lungs. I might as well go get her.

  3. Not looking forward to the naptime battle with 2 but so glad lil miss is coming in the summer so I can at least keep LB outside until he falls asleep. Pita is adorable at the sandbox, don't you just love their imaginations?
Hopefully naptime went smoother for you today!
