miscellany monday

I meant to post a few more times last week, but it ended up being a very busy week with Chris getting home late/working at night and I just didn't have time. We have a lot going on right now, between appointments and activities, and all the things we want and need to do around the house now that spring has arrived. So, some of my ideas from last week are just rolled into today's miscellany.

1. A couple random, cute things Celia said lately-
-When we were playing outside: "I just want to stay out here for a few more whiles."
-After her nap- Celia: "Mommy, I have a headache." Me: "Where does it hurt?" Celia, after a pause: "It went down to my tushie and soaked-ed into my skin." Me: "So is it all gone now?" Celia: "Yep."
- "I would like to be a bear sometime. Can we get some bear dress-up clothes?"
- "Mommy, I'm not being naughty." (With a guilty look on her face...)
- When I was putting her to bed one night, she put her hands up to her ears and said, "I'm going to turn up my hearing so I can hear you and Henry." And then she said if Henry needs anything during the night, she would get up and go to his room, and then she'd go back to her bed. It was so cute.

2. I've been trying to schedule a time to meet with my boss. She makes me nervous. Every time I hit send on an email to her I have a minor anxiety attack. Gah!

3. Our town is proposing to buy a large parcel of land for a new recreation area. Sports fields, a track (!!!), walking trail (!!!), and it looks like playgrounds are on the plan too. I don't know if it will go through, but we don't have anything like that and it would be great! We're already paying ridiculous taxes so we might as well get something really good out of it. I'm already picturing myself getting in a track workout while Celia or Henry has a sports practice someday :D. The land is also by wetlands and a river that would be made into preservation area.

4. It feels like spring. Plants are budding, bulbs have come up, and it's supposed to be warm all week! We went to a garden center yesterday and got seeds for the garden. Celia likes it there because there's a little area where kids can play, an outdoor model train, and a couple of very friendly goats to visit. She didn't want to leave.

5. We have a little seat like a Bumbo and I tried Henry in it this week.

6. I tried millet for the first time, and it was good, but the word still makes me think of "mullet" every time, which is just a bad association for a food. And if I don't think of mullets, I think of birdseed.

7. I've been on my own with Celia and Henry for bath and bedtime a few times lately, and while it's much easier if Chris takes Henry while I get Celia ready at least I know I can do it by myself. It does make for a very long day. By the time I get Henry to sleep, I should really be getting to bed myself. But I need some time to sit and relax, read, watch tv, etc. so I end up staying up too late.

8. There's a new cat in the neighborhood, and he's not shy about encroaching on our cats' territory. I hope this doesn't mean conflict is in the cats' future. The new guy is a huge orange cat. He comes right up on our deck and looks in the window! He and China had a showdown through the slider the other day.

9. My work getting Henry on a nap schedule and in the crib is starting to pay off. He's in the crib all the time now. His nap schedule is pretty consistent. Nighttime sleep is not going well, but it's a start...

10. It's taken me forever to write this post. Henry's been having a nap but he keeps waking up, and I've been trying to prep dinner and clean up the house a little too. I can't wait for the day I can sit down and do one thing from start to finish, without interruption!

  1. The cats look like the same color. Maybe they think they are looking at themselves! hee hee.
Gotta love what little kids say.

I wish I could walk or run around the soccer fields while B practices, but I have to watch b and he cannot be trusted to get too far away from.
