monday miscellany

1) Henry is 14 weeks old today. Time seems to be flying by again now. He's doing a couple more new things since last week. Henry likes making raspberry noises, and he'll go back and forth taking turns making them with us. He has also started laughing real belly laughs. I tried to get one on video last night but of course he stopped laughing when the camera was on. Henry has also started noticing when his hands are touching or holding something. Last night I was leaning close to him, and he kept putting his hand up and touching my face, resting his hand there. It was almost by accident at first, but once he did it he definitely noticed and was figuring out how to do it over and over again.

Henry hasn't liked any carriers until Chris tried him in one again yesterday. He was so calm in it, and even fell asleep for a while.

2) Celia is possibly a bit under the weather, but it's hard to tell what's going on. There's been a stomach bug at daycare, and since Friday morning she's been telling us off and on that her tummy hurts and she's a little sick. We stayed home from music class that morning, just in case Pita really was sick. I think something was not right because she just wanted to lie around most of the morning. She wanted to lie with her pillow and blanket and watch a movie.

3) This is completely embarrassing, but I'll put it up anyway. A couple weekends ago Celia was away at my parents' for the weekend so Chris and I thought we could work around Henry's schedule and have a nice, relaxed dinner. I was picturing sitting on the couch by the fire. Chris had other ideas, involving propping up Celia's Lego table. We are so weird. Or in this case, he is so weird. But it was nice to turn down the lights, watch an episode of Downton Abbey, and have a yummy adult dinner by the fire- even if it was the ugliest, oddest seating arrangement ever.

4) I've been doing more reading on nutrition, currently looking into the McDougall Program. It's so interesting, especially the information on carbohydrates and how our bodies are built to process them. I might tighten up my diet a bit and follow the McDougall guidelines to try losing the rest of the baby weight.

5) Pita looks so freaking cute in her Christmas reindeer pajamas. They've been her favorite pair since we got them. But, they are getting too small and I think she's worn them for the last time. I get attached to certain pieces of her clothing because they remind me of certain periods of time, and this is one of them. We will miss the reindeer pajamas. I love seeing her change and grow, but it's always hard to say goodbye to things as she gets bigger and bigger.
