all about celia

Celia does and says so many cute little things. They're just little habits or sayings she has, and some people might not even notice them, but I do and I'll want to remember them when she's older. I thought I'd start a list of some of them.

She calls cotton balls "cotton tails". Ever since she saw me using them to give Henry a bath, she always wants one to play with when she has hers. She asks "Mommy, can I have a cotton tail?"

She always wants to know what color doors (as in, the front doors of their houses), and what color rooms (bedrooms) people have. Whenever she's curious about someone new she asks me what color door that person has.

She thinks deep thoughts. The other day she asked "Mommy, will I still be Celia when I grow up?"

When Henry is fussy, Celia says he's "fuzzy". If they're together and I'm busy in the kitchen she'll come running in and tell me "Mommy, Henry's a little bit fuzzy!"

Every night Celia has two yogurt tubes as a bedtime snack while we read books. She plans out which book she wants with which yogurt tube. So she'll tell me she wants one book with her cherry yogurt tube, and then another one with the berry yogurt. It's so funny how she plans it out and she's made it such an integral part of her bedtime routine.

She's very funny. Recently I was reading her a book and she kept moving her arm up and down. I asked what she was doing, and she said "I'm doing some exercises for my arm, so it will grow big and strong just like all my other parts." Then she paused, and said "But, my vagina won't grow big and strong. That would be silly." Oh golly, I laughed so hard at that one.

Speaking of exercise, Celia loves to exercise! She likes to work out with us when we do yoga or weights, and she's very interested in my running. Sometimes she makes up her own exercises, too. She's also a firm believer that exercise will ease any ailment. When she had a cold this winter she kept doing "exercises" so her cold would get better.

Pita likes to "be cozy". Sometimes we get to "be cozy" together :)

She likes playing with anything she can pack in bags or containers. She especially likes collecting rocks, but anything will do. I could spend all my free time finding and sorting out the containers of little objects she leaves all over the house.

She likes to play with her bricks. Her favorite thing to do is make a road or sidewalk with them. Her play area often looks like this:

She sleeps with a million stuffed animals. There can never be too many. Sometimes I take some and put them away, but eventually more animals somehow make their way into the bed. Celia knows when one is missing, too. She keeps tabs on them all.

She loves to draw and play with stickers. Give her a sheet of stickers and she keeps herself busy for a long time. She spends a lot of time drawing at her desk and easel.

She notices when something smells nice. She'll often ask "Mommy, what is that nice smell?" I have a candle on my bedside table, and Pita asks to smell it every time she's in the room.

She does tiny little grown-up things, just the way I do them. I may not think she's watching me, but she sees how I do everything. The other morning Henry and Celia woke up at the same time. I was in Celia's room getting her out of bed, and she wanted to go see Henry. I saw her go in the bedroom, turn off his white noise machine just like I always do, and go to say good morning to Henry. It was just a tiny little thing, but so cute that she knows just what to do with him.

One day I was asking Celia to do something, and I asked a few times, and she finally said in this high pitched, patronizing little voice "I will, Mommy I will. Caaaalm down Mommy, calm down!" It was so funny, and ever since then it's been a family joke. We all say it to each other, and it's fun because Celia really gets it.

I'm sure there are more things I didn't think of, but those are some of the cute little things Pita is doing now at age 3.

  2. This is adorable!! I LOVE her spin on everything! What a funny little doll! This is awesome that you recorded it, too. I try to remember to do that, but I get so busy and forget more often than not.
