I was looking at this picture the other day. It's always been on my desk at work. I was thinking about how it was taken so long ago- 8 years ago this weekend, I think- and how much our lives have changed since then. In this picture we weren't married, no kids, no mortgage to pay, lived in the city. I was in grad school. If we wanted to go out one night or go away for a weekend, we could.
Then, I was thinking that I was so skinny back then, and that I'm so not right now. And then I thought, "Gee, we both look so young in this picture. I'm getting old. My skin shows signs of age. I'm getting creased and wrinkled and tired looking." So after that I decided I should start trying some anti-aging/skin repair products to try to stop looking so gosh darn old.
The next day, I saw a new jar of skin cream on the bathroom counter. It was a men's product. It said something about wrinkle smoothing. I grinned and chuckled a bit to myself, because I would never have pegged Chris as a man who would be worried about his skin or his looks. And then I thought it was kind of sweet that we both must have been thinking about all this at the same time. So I went downstairs and mentioned to Chris that I'd been noticing my skin looked older and was thinking about doing something about it, and that I noticed his skin cream and how we must have both been thinking the same thing. He replied, "Oh. Well I was just looking for face lotion and when I got home I noticed it said something about anti-aging."
Guess it was just me after all...

This is so funny as I was just thinking about needing something new to spruce up my face :) I have a picture like this of me and Rondell on our kitchen sink and I think about how so much has changed since then...all for the better.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this made me LOL! Guys are so funny.
ReplyDeleteI was looking back on pictures of us from 5 years ago, and I can't believe how much we've aged. Goodness, it must be the kids. Ha!
I am with you! This last stressful year has added much gray hair - WHAT?!? Yes, I can still hardly believe it. My eyes look like they have packed black bags for an extended vacation. Sigh - getting old is, getting old. :)
