The belly and me, shiny with sunscreen and ready for the beach:
Celia wanted her picture taken too.
2) Now that the potty training is old hat for Celia, it's become just another bone of contention when she wants to be an obstinate 2-year-old. She sometimes tells me she has to go but then refuses to, and there's nothing I can do but see if I can eventually get her to use the potty before she has an accident. I think the best thing we can do is just praise and reward her a lot whenever she does use the potty without a fuss. At least half the time, she does go all by herself. She has been staying mostly dry at night and dry during naps for a while now, though!
3) Double decker kitties:
4) There was an article in the paper about bubble babies- apparently it's a bit of a trend for kids to be severely overprotected by their parents. Turns out there are actually foam helmets marketed for babies and toddlers, just to keep them from bumping their heads during daily life. I think I've seen them, but I assumed the kids had seizure disorders or some medical reason for wearing helmets. The last thing I want is to see Celia get hurt and sometimes I do hover to prevent it, but this is ridiculous. Kids need to experience getting bumps and scrapes and need to have enough independence to figure things out for themselves.
5) We're really in the home stretch of summer vacation now. Time to rush through the last of the summer house projects and do as much as we can. We especially need to get the baby's room painted and set up! I'm dying to wash baby clothes and diapers, and get baby gear out and ready.
6) Celia's Little People have developed an interesting family structure. We ended up with more than one Mommy, and now Celia's favorite little person Sonya has one daddy and two mommies. Celia calls her "other Mommy" or "purple Mommy" because she has purple shoes. All three parents seem to have an equal role. I'm sure that in a 2-year-old's mind there's nothing better than having not one but two mommies :)

8) Let's be honest. We're mostly women here, right? During pregnancy, stool softeners are amazing. That's as far as I'll go with that one :D
9) My mind is always working. Now that I'm not always sleeping through the night my brain is apparently making good use of the awake time. Last night at 4 am? I was lying awake while the baby kicked, thinking that I should try making ravioli for Celia's lunch for a change. I come up with the most random, yet useful, thoughts.
10) Outfit of the Week! Chris took Celia out for a doughnut yesterday morning while I was grocery shopping. When they got home, this is what I saw when Pita walked in the door:
Completely dressed, hair bow and all, with one key clothing item missing. She told me her shirt was "bothering" her, so they took it off. She proceeded to spend half the day shirtless.

You look fabulous! It's been so fun to watch this pregnancy of yours unfold. Such a sweet and blessed moment in life.
ReplyDeleteI'm just laughing about the Little People. I forgot all about Sonya -- and as soon as you said her name the theme song for the Little People DVDS (which I had as vhs -- gasp -- when Hannah was little) popped into my head. Your daughter is creative. :)
Have a wonderful Monday.
Rachel
