update

We were busy and I missed Miscellany Monday yesterday, so just a random list of things going on.

1) Yesterday marked 20 weeks- halfway to full term. This going by fast! I'm feeling good, but have noticed that if I do too much I get very worn out, and that I tend to be exhausted on days when I haven't slept well (more so than when I'm not pregnant). I've gained about 16 pounds, most of which was first trimester gain. I spent too much time eating carbs to settle my stomach. I'm kind of hoping it will be all belly and no more excess gain from here on. I think the summer heat also makes me feel bigger than I really am. Number Two is very busy these days. He's always kicking around, and he's a strong little fellow because Chris can often feel the kicks too. This morning Celia saw my belly when I was getting dressed, and she said "When I'm a grown up I'll have a baby in my belly too." :)
20 Weeks:

2)  Now that my eating is back to normal, I'm moving back toward vegetarian and vegan cooking.
Lastweek I planned all vegetarian and mostly vegan (except for pizza one night) meals. I need to go through my recipes again and come up with a short list of standbys that I can make often. Last night I made this asparagus and potato salad and some grilled pineapple. It was really good.

3) We got a beach pass for the beach in our new town, and took Celia on Saturday. She loved it! It's kind of scary though because she has no concept of how dangerous the water is and thinks she can jump right in by herself. She is always trying to squirm away from us and head into the deep water. No fear.

This morning I was very brave and took her to the beach by myself! I was afraid I'd spend the whole time trying to keep Celia from throwing herself into the water, but she was great today. She stayed with me the whole time and was much more cautious. She loved watching the older kids swim and play, and was such a copycat. She wanted to do everything the big kids were doing. It turned out to be a lot of fun, and having my tired pregnant feet in the water for a couple hours felt pretty great.

4) We now live only 20 minutes from Whole Foods, which is both exciting and dangerous for my wallet. I've found that if you stick with produce and basic items, it actually isn't more expensive than other stores. It's where you can find the best selection of organic produce, and the only place that carries certain things I buy. I did splurge on vegan marshmallows yesterday so Celia and I could make vegan rice crispy treats :D.

5) I was listening to Celia play with her dollhouses and Little People this morning and heard her make up the following conversation: "Where you going Daddy?" "You like to come?" "Yes, please! Where we going?" "We're going to the beer store." "Okay. You can come too, Baby. Bye bye Mommy!" HA! Think Chris has been drinking too much beer lately? Celia doesn't forget a thing, so she even knows where the "beer store" is when we drive by it.

6) I took Pita to the doctor last week to check on a reaction to a bug bite, and had her weight checked. She's only 25 lbs 8 oz, still small for her age. I took her for ice cream as a treat after the doctor (it's right across the street), and now I have a feeling she thinks we have ice cream every time we go there... She keeps talking about how she and Mommy went to the doctor and got ice cream- haha!

7) After a couple normal weekdays and a long weekend at home, I have started feeling at home in the new house. I just noticed it last night. We have a lot of work to do on the house, the yard, and there's still unpacking and organizing, but feeling comfortable and at home here is a big step.

Guess that's about all for now!

  1. You look so CUTE! Loved the pictures, and the pics of your house are incredible. What an awesome new space! I hear you on the water stuff. We've gone swimming a few times this summer, and Q has NO fear of the water. He knows enough that he doesn't want to put his head under, but he about gives me a nervous breakdown. I told my Hubby we're enrolling him in swim lessons next summer, even if he only gets in the water a handful of times!
