weekend in review

We've had a great weekend. Celia slept without a peep all Friday night, and even slept in until I woke her at 7:00 on Saturday. She played in her kitchen while Chris made some food.

For some reason, Pita always wants to eat whatever Chris has. He usually plans on her eating half his breakfast.

Froggy feet.

I went for a walk while they finished eating, and then we all got ready for the day. Pita insisted that she would put her pants on by herself. I was doubtful. She allowed me to orient her pants right side up, and lo and behold, she did it!

If that isn't a look of joyful triumph, I don't know what is. (She was a little annoyed that she couldn't pull them all the way up.) When we were all ready, we headed out to an indoor play place. Celia would have stayed all day.

We went home for lunch, and since it was nice outside we all took a walk. Pita had her nap, and we went out for dinner. We hardly ever went out to eat until recently. Celia really likes going to restaurants now and behaves well, so I guess we're making up for lost time. Pita got a big bowl of macaroni and cheese and ate almost the whole thing. Chris and I were actually kind of horrified that she ate so much! She must have been so full! I think she would have kept going too if we didn't have it taken away. It was the kind from a box. Guess I know a new go-to meal that she loves, even if it isn't the healthiest. Speaking of healthy, wanna know a healthy and delicious vegan meal at Uno's? Chopped power salad without the chicken and feta (and the fat free dressing was great), mixed with a side dish of farro salad. It was really good and enough for at least two meals. We walked around after dinner, went home and read nursery rhymes, and Pita went to bed.

Pita did not do so well with sleeping on Saturday night. She kept calling for me when she first went to bed, and was awake for a while in the night. She was totally trying to manipulate me, trying to get me to read her a story, get her a different stuffed animal, etc. It really wasn't too bad getting her back to sleep, but it took a while and took a while for me to fall asleep afterward. I also didn't want her sleeping too late in the morning and getting off schedule, so I got up a little before 7 and woke her up. I had two cups of coffee. Chris slept in. (Hmmm.....) I had a lot to do around the house today. Pita and I watched Caillou and had breakfast. We talked about how she was up during the night. It was a pretty funny conversation.

Me: "Why were you up for so long in the middle of the night, Pita?"

Celia: Thinking hard "Ummmmm......"

Me: "You know, when you wake up during the night all you have to do is relax and go right back to sleep. Mommy will not keep coming back to bring you things or to sleep with you. You just go back to sleep right away."

Celia: "Okay, Mommy."

Me: : "We'll try again tonight."

Celia: "Yes Mommy."

It's so cute how she says "Yes Mommy". She always sounds so serious and obedient. If only it were that way in practice! We'll see how she does tonight. Pita had a bath and we harassed Chris out of bed so I could go for a run. Chris's parents stopped by to play with Celia late morning, so I got to do laundry (even washed throw blankets and the stuffed animals Pita sleeps with), give the house a good cleaning, and read the Sunday paper.

Now time to get ready for another week.

  1. Hopefully she will get the hang of things quickly and there won't be too many more restless nights!

The indoor play place is so cool. I need to find a place like that to take Dmitri to on cold days!
