miscellany monday

1) Sometimes I put off going to bed at night, even when I'm tired, because I dread being woken up by Celia in the middle of the night. It's illogical because I would get more sleep if I went to bed early, but somehow it makes me feel better to stay up.

2) I don't need to worry too much about that anymore because Pita has been doing great sleeping through the night most nights!

3) What's wrong with this picture?

The things we do when we have small children.

(Don't tell Blub I put this online...)

4) This is how Celia had her afternoon snack on Saturday. Just loungin', with no pants on.

5) We have a diaper problem. Celia has a yeast diaper rash that keeps returning, but is always the worst when we use our cloth diapers. I've been simply avoiding the cloth diapers for the longest time, but  finally attempted to kill the yeast in the diapers with tea tree oil in the wash yesterday. Next will be tea tree oil plus an oxygen cleaner if it didn't work.

6) I saw salt and vinegar flavored almonds at the store yesterday. They had milk in them and were artificially flavored (why? and why?), but it got me thinking about making some of my own. Salt and vinegar anything is a-okay in my book.

7) We discovered a new playground this weekend. It had several slides, which meant it was a Pita paradise! Celia loves slides. There was one she could go down all by herself, but the others were very steep so I held my arm out and slowed her down a little. She even loved this especially steep one.

8) What's going on in Japan deserves a mention in any post these days. Incredible destruction, so many lives lost, survivors displaced from their homes, and a nuclear accident with continuing danger of a worse one. Not good at all, and one of my oldest and dearest friends lives in Japan with her husband and baby girl which makes it especially worrying.

9) Another thing we did this weekend was go to the mall. Pita has never been to a mall, except for a dinky little one near home. We went before it warmed up on Saturday morning, just for something different to do. Pita rode around in a ladybug car, we stopped for her to play in the Lego store, and had lunch there. She had her nap in the car on the way home, and we drove around and stopped for a couple errands along the way so her nap would be long enough. It worked out great.

10) You can't beat the kitty hat, sunglasses and binky combo in this Outfit of the Week.

  1. I hope you get that yeast removed soon so she's not bothered anymore. Your hubs in that bib...lol!

I can't believe Pita has never gone to a mall before. I'll bet she loved the Lego store!

  5. Borax and bac-out work wonders for killing yeast in cloth diapers. So says our food co-op leader.
