1) Lots of recipe requests came from Friday's post with the green smoothie nutrition info! That particular smoothie contained approximately: 3 C baby spinach, 1 small/medium banana, 1 C oat milk, and around a cup of frozen mango chunks.
2) Celia and I had a lovely weekend in New Hampshire, visiting my parents and so I could go to a bridal shower on Saturday. Pita sure had a great time, and she was so good on both car rides!
3) The other day I looked out the window and saw that our neighbor was looking out his window too. It kind of creeped me out, so of course I took a picture. Or does that make me the creepy one?
4) Well, well! The Oprah episode made quite a buzz on the old internets, now didn't it? At least, if you run in vegan circles it did. You can see my mostly scathing review here, if you missed it. It's interesting that most vegan bloggers I've come across had similar impressions. My only commenter who thought the Oprah show was wonderful was a well-known member of In Defense of Animals. I could write another whole post on my impression of that. Boy would that be a controversial one... Interesting that she came across my little blog.
5) Though I was less than impressed with Kathy Freston, her new book looks like it could be decent. I may read it just to see if it's worth the buzz, or if it's just the Oprah effect.
6) Valentine's Day: A special and romantic holiday? Or a commercial holiday for which your husband feels obligated (not by you, but by external societal forces) to buy you something at the last minute and comes home with a dusty box of chocolates from the gas station? Discuss.
7) I have no desire to eat meat or cheese anymore, but I do miss the flavor of buffalo wings! Jessica posted some Super Bowl snack recipes and they included this recipe for tempeh "wingz". I'm intrigued.
8) Among my current home improvement aspirations is a plan for Celia's room. In preparation for eventually moving her to a bed, I want to put the big bed in storage and get a twin trundle bed for her room. That will also free up quite a bit of extra space for play things in her room.
9) Pita got a new doctor's kit and she loves it! She knows what all the instruments are for and uses them on everybody. Here she is all ready for a house call. She even called herself "Doctor Celia" the other day.
10) This Outfit of the Week features Pita's fancy new dress-up scarf.

that smoothie looks and sounds mighty healthy! i must try it!
ReplyDeleteglad you had a great weekend in NH!
i read your vegan post. it was very interesting; i think all your points were clear and valid. good review.
i think a trundle is a great idea. we're working on ideas for hunter, too.
have a great day!
We got a twin trundle bed for Noah's room (not that he uses it...I call his room the prop room) and I love it! Right now, I use half of it for my wedding dress and the other half for my gift wrapping supplies. I wonder how long I can get away with it before he wants to use it for something! I figure I have a few good years ;) Costco is my favorite place for quality kids' furniture.
ReplyDeleteAlways love Celia's outfits - this week did not disappoint!
Thank you for the recipe! That sounds so good this morning. We just have a toddler bed in Q's room, but sister will have Hubby's old twin bed from his childhood with a trundle in her room. One of my many projects in limbo depending on whether or not we sell our house!
ReplyDeleteYay for the recipe!! Thanks for sharing. Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm stopping by from Miscellany Monday and must say the smoothie looks yummy! As do the tempeh wingz, which I'm going to have to try.
ReplyDeleteI'm leaning towards Valentine's Day being commercial, I think. Not a fan of it, I gotta say.
ReplyDeleteThat whole window thing reminds me of that movie Disturbia which was super creepy!
