I wasn't having any luck finding something with dark-colored wood, and then we happened upon this painted bed. It turned out we could order it with a trundle. The one we ordered will be light green and it will be perfect in Celia's room. It's simple, classic, sturdy, and will be something we can keep forever.
2) Speaking of beds, we'll probably continue our current sleeping habits with Celia in the crib most of the time, but allowed to sleep in a bed when she wants to. We're all happy and well-rested the way things are going, and that's all that matters. Yesterday she took her nap in the big bed in her room. Halfway through her nap I heard a little voice call "Mommy!" and went upstairs. She was just standing in her room trying to figure out what to do. I asked if she needed to sleep more and she nodded, so I put her back in bed and she instantly fell asleep again. I think she woke up and, not used to being in a bed, got out of bed and wasn't sure what to do. It was pretty cute.
3) This morning we woke to snow. It was so disappointing to see more snow on the ground after finally having some progress with melting. I think it's only going to be a few inches though.
4) I got off track with meal planning at some point last week, and then with the long weekend we've been winging it when it comes to dinner. Last night I sat down with a few magazines I'd saved with dog-eared recipes, and the new Cooking Light Way to Cook Vegetarian: The Complete Visual Guide to Healthy Vegetarian & Vegan Cooking
Somehow that turned into a kitty photo shoot.
I won't be making anything elaborate for the rest of the month. This week will be all about using up what we have so as not to waste food and money. I'll have a list of dinners that can be made without buying anything, and just go through them until we really need more food. I can make most of these recipes with things we already have on hand, and the rest will be saved for when it's time to grocery shop:
Lentil-Barley Soup
Tahini-Roasted Broccoli over Raisin-Studded Bulgur
Teriyaki Tempeh Stir-Fry
Sesame Tofu Stir-Fry
Koshari
5) This Outfit of the Week involved Pita having a grand old time playing in our closet, and emerging with one of Daddy's ties and Mommy's most flowery high heels.
6) Celia got a balloon at the furniture store yesterday. Do you think she loves it?

I noticed on your profile that you work part time and stay home part time. That is what I plan on doing next year...how's it going for you?
ReplyDeleteHey, good choice in shoes Cecelia! I love the flowers!
ReplyDeleteNow, the bed looks great, and having a trundle will be perfect! That is the next bed I want for Asher as well.
Enjoy the week Sarah!!
My mother was a stickler for the beauty and semantic importance of nuance in the language. When I was a child she insisted that "love" was a special word to be applied only in reference to people, or perhaps her god. Things are what one likes, enjoys, uses. I generally did what Mom told me in this regard. Still do. I've never loved anything. Only people.
ReplyDeleteThat last cat shot looks like there's a monocle!
ReplyDeleteCelia is so funny! She looks great all dolled up with your shoes and his tie.
I hope you're right about that snow!
Awesome pick this week, Celia!! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you're getting more snow. So much for that groundhog's predication, huh?! I guess he could still be right...we'll see in a few weeks ;)
So cute! my 3 year old son was closet shopping this weekend too, and emerged wearing 3 of my bras - one on top of his head like a yamaka - blackmail photos! ;))
ReplyDeleteMmmm! Your menu sounds SO amazing. Can't wait to see Celia's bed! I bet it will be so cute in the light green color.
ReplyDeletelove the bed! can't wait to see it...
ReplyDeleteDid you ever see Meet the Fockers? In it one couple says they're Ferberizing the baby and the other couple when asked what they did said Fockerized their baby meaning they loved the sh*t out of him. You are right that whatever suits your family is what's best. We too got more snow. So disappointing!
ReplyDeleteI also forgot to say that your cat looks exactly like ours. Long lost brothers??
ReplyDeleteThe bed is beautiful! Love it! We're looking for one too for Hunter. I now wish we had a crib that converted to a toddler bed so the expense could be delayed! : ) I like your plans as far as the transition goes.
