Last night Chris ended up working very late, so Celia and I were on our own. Of all nights, of course I had an elaborate dinner planned and already in the oven. Celia ate nothing but carrots for dinner. She told me the lentil walnut loaf (that she loved last time) was gross, said it was poop, and asked "This your poop, Mommy?" Oh dear... I thought the rice pudding I served as a treat would be a home run for dessert. She said it was disgusting and tried to feed it all to me! Luckily the rest of the evening went better than that. We built a new house out of Legos for her Calico Critter hedgehogs, and she shuttled them around in their car and played with the house for a while. She's also been playing a lot lately with some dried beans I used to fill her tub. She fills and dumps, rakes them up, cooks with them, and (unfortunately) throws them all over the floor.
Celia woke up at 4:00 this morning and would not calm down until I came to sleep in her room. We got in the bed and I slept a little, but I think she was awake most of the time. We finally got up at 6:00. Celia popped right up and got out of bed, so that was it for me too. I was really hoping to take Celia to a new indoor play place before the snow storm started, but it was already snowing by seven. I really wanted to get out of the house, too! We made muffins for breakfast, Pita watched a little Elmo, she had her bath and I took a shower. Then Celia played in her room while I did some cleaning and worked on laundry. I've gotten lots of it done today, and even took down our shower curtain (a task I dislike) and washed it.
Celia was pretending that a cup from her bathtub was a camera.
I also got out a pillow for her to use.
We eventually had lunch, talked to Nana on the phone for a few minutes, played, and read some books before nap time.
Oh, and we played with a very patient and accommodating cat.
Look at his expression in this one. I'm pretty sure this is the point at which he had had enough!
I was ready for another nap time battle today, but Celia surprised me. When I put her in the crib she wouldn't lie down and was about to lose it. I offered that she could sleep on her pillow, and wouldn't you know she snuggled right down and went to sleep! I think she would love to get a bed right about now, but I'm not quite ready for that. We'll see...
One last thing. This storm we're having is enormous. It's hard to imagine that it's snowing or icing over at least half the country right now. Look at this picture taken from space:

I'm sorry but I laughed so hard (and shared with my husband) when I read Celia's reaction to the lentil walnut loaf - funny story! I'm so sorry that you guys are getting blasted with another snow storm. It is crazy and I totally agree that it's a little on the freaky side, too. I hope the end of the wacky weather is near and spring is just around the corner for you guys!
