cookie dough belly

When I was getting Celia dressed this morning I told her I had to leave for work, and she started hugging me and saying "No work, Mommy. No work." The thought passed through my head that I should just stay home with Pita full time. How could I not think such a thing when my sweet little monkey was hugging me and asking me to stay home? The truth is that she does love daycare and is always happy there. It's been such a good thing for her to play at someone else's house with other kids a few days a week. By the time I left for work, Celia was into her morning routine of breakfast and Sesame Street. She was happy as a clam at that point, and had no problem hugging and kissing me goodbye.

I picked up Celia's new coat today. She likes it!

We had a nice afternoon after Celia and I got home. She helped me make dinner, which was this
creamy tomato barley risotto. It's definitely a keeper of a recipe: really tasty, healthy comfort food. After dinner I was in the mood to make cookies, so I tried making peanut butter chocolate chip cookie dough balls. The dough came out way too dry to hold together so I had to add some liquid. I think I added too much, because they didn't keep their shape in the oven and turned into cookies.

These will surely help rid me of the spare tire around my middle...
They're still very tasty! A little crispy on the outside and soft inside. While I made cookie dough, Celia played with Daddy and then came to help lick the beater. Again, if you make vegan cookies the kids can eat all the dough they want with no salmonella involved!

Bedtime story with Daddy.
We put Celia to bed a half hour early last night because she hadn't napped much. She ended up sleeping until the same time she usually does, and I actually had to wake her up at 7:15 before I left for work. So, we decided to try switching her bedtime from 7:30 to 7:00 for now. She seems to need the sleep. It sure is a lot different having her in bed so much earlier. That half hour makes a big difference.

Blak! I feel sick right now. Two cookies, in addition to the dough I consumed while mixing, have been too much. I never learn my lesson when it comes to cookie dough... Must get a good run in tomorrow after all that.

I didn't stay up too late last night, but neither did I get to bed as early as I wanted. Tonight I want to get in bed early with my book.

  2. |Eating the dough, licking the beaters, some of the best reasons to bake. Oh, and the smiles from the little one's faces:)

  3. Oh yes, the dough is my weakness too. I eat it until I am sick. However, I have not gotten salmonella, which I take to mean i was meant to eat raw stuff.
I love the new coat on her!
