Last night Celia woke up crying a few times between 12:30 and 1:30. I think she had a nightmare because she was still sleepy but didn't want me to leave her room. I changed her diaper, took her downstairs for some milk, and tried getting her back to sleep but she was crying again ten minutes later. Finally I decided to move to the double bed in her room since she didn't want me to leave. She wanted to get in the bed with me and I thought that would be a disaster! I was picturing her being wide awake and just wanting to play in the bed. We got under the covers, she took over my entire pillow, and was asleep in seconds! A couple times in the night she woke up for a few seconds and just looked me and smiled. She was so soft and snuggly to sleep with. I actually loved it, although I didn't sleep very well. Between that, crying cats, stepping in a puddle of cat throw up in the middle of the night, and noise from snow plows outside, I didn't sleep much!
This morning we had Celia's 2 year check up. She weighed 24 pounds (16th percentile), was 32 inches tall (10th percentile), and her BMI was normal. She just needed one shot and a finger prick, and she didn't make a peep the whole time. It even took the nurse a couple minutes to get enough blood from the finger prick and Celia was fine. The only thing she didn't like was having a bandage on her finger, so she kept taking it off and getting blood everywhere. That happened after her last appointment too.

| Pita loves this little play house at the doctor's office. It's just her size! |
We also went to music class this morning, which was delayed an hour because of snow removal. By the time we got home it was lunch time, and then the nap battle began. Apparently refusing to nap for Mommy is becoming a regular thing. She has been napping fine at daycare. Today I decided that she needed the nap no matter what, so I finally ended up leaving her to cry and complain. I was prepared for an hour long battle, but she calmed down after about fifteen minutes and thankfully did go to sleep. It always feels like the longest fifteen minutes of your life when you have to do that! I hate leaving her crying, but I get the impression that she's engaging me in a battle of wills so I have to be consistent and follow through when I tell her it's nap time.

As I write this, the neighbor's car alarm has just gone off for the third time since Celia went to sleep. If it wakes her up, I may go next door with some sort of clobbering device...
what a peanut! too cute! hadley has been throwing a fit at nap/bed time, and will jump and scream for about 2 minutes before she puts her head down. fun times!
ReplyDeletei would freak out on my neighbor if the car alarm woke up my napping kid... i hope celia's nap was a good one today!
She's just the size of my Q, such little sweets! I so understand the noise-waking-up-kid thing. Until I put a sign up that said not to ring the door bell, I can't even tell you how many times the UPS or Fed Ex people have woken up a child. Grrrr!
ReplyDeleteLook at all of that snow...I love that picture. I'm glad her check up went well and that she was so brave! Car alarms + nap = not cool.
ReplyDeleteaww! It's hard to believe she is 2! She's so adorable.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a rough night! I've had a few of those lately...Dmitri sleeps in my bed every night, and I think I've finally gotten used to it and can sleep well...haha! It took a while. (And now we are adding another...not sure where he is going to sleep!)
