bathtime: a christmas miracle

We had another really nice day today. We all had a great time together as a family, and Chris and I also both had time to work on things we needed to get done. I went grocery shopping by myself while Celia had her nap, which was quite a luxury. We had vegan lasagna for dinner and it was pretty good! I got a lot of cleaning done- all the bathrooms, laundry, dusted upstairs, and changed the sheets. Celia was happy and busy all day, and as usual said the darndest things to make us smile. When Chris was reading a book to her about Elmo's blanket at bedtime she said, "Know what, Daddy? I have a blanket too. Purple one." So cute! It's so funny how she comes up with so much on her own, and has her own little way of saying things.

Anyway, what I really wanted to talk about was our recent progress with baths! Celia has taken two baths in her new little bathtub now and they have gone very well.

The other day Chris asked Celia if she wanted to put some water in the tub so her ducks could swim. She did, so we put some water in. Pita immediately wanted to put her feet in the water, so we took her socks off. Progress! And as soon as she stepped in, she wanted to sit down too. Before we knew it, we had her pants off too and she was kicking around in the tub. We thought this was great progress and weren't expecting any more. I went upstairs to get a towel, and when I returned Pita had her shirt off too! It had gotten wet so she took it off. So there she was, happy as a clam in the bath! She ended up staying in there for over a half hour. We kept having to add water to keep it warm enough for her. At one point she even made Chris and I put our feet in with her.

In addition to making her bathtub a communal family spot, Celia has taken to preparing and eating snacks in the tub. This reminds me of an old Seinfeld episode. My amusement around this faded yesterday when she started dropping crackers in the water, and fishing them our again all soggy to eat them...

Mmm, soggy crackers...
Pita has spent her time in the new tub playing and laughing,

splashing,

and even humoring Mommy by posing for pictures.

It's going so well that she's even disappointed when bath time is over.

What a relief to know that bath time is getting back on track.

  1. What a cutie pie. Do you think addeding some bubbles might help her get in the tub? Sorry, I'm not caught up on the backstory to her bathtime aversion, lol.

Once she starts washing salad in there disposal, she's gone too far :)
