the mondays

I'm a bit late joining in on Miscellany Monday today, but I haven't had my laptop and have had a busy weekend and a crazy Monday!

1) The only thing more annoying than the phrase "a case of the Mondays" is actually having a case of the Mondays. I had that today.

2) It turns out (we had forgotten) that my laptop is still covered under warranty! So, it's getting fixed for free and sent back to us- hopefully by the end of the week. My posts may be spotty until I get it back, but now we know it will be fixed soon!

3) It was raining when I woke up this morning, which I hadn't expected. I love waking up to the sound of rain outside. So cozy. Although it would have been nice to have slept better and later :).

4) Celia is coming down with another cold. She just had one!

5) I had time at work today to send a few follow up emails regarding administrative issues that have been unresolved for a week. I have my email account set up so that I can see when someone's read an email I send. This is helpful but also torturous, since I can see that my emails are read yet never responded to. So, I wait a couple days and then merrily fire off another round of messages asking the exact same questions all over again. Good times. Really, really great.

6) I entered my office with some students today only to realize that one of them was wearing cologne. You would not believe how many of my preschoolers come to school wearing cologne. Do parents think that's cute? Cologne on a 4-year-old is just ridiculously inappropriate. Not to mention inconsiderate since so many kids have allergies. Oh, and since I myself am extremely allergic to most colognes and perfumes. I spent the next hour freezing with the windows open to air out my office, eyes watering and face and neck itching. Then I had the teacher call the parent and ask her not to send her kid to school wearing cologne again :).

7) Seriously, can you tell I really had a case of "the Mondays" today or what? I'm never this negative! Work is getting me down, y'all! Hmm, I just said "y'all"...

8) When I arrived at daycare to get Celia today, she and her little boyfriend were together, as usual. They are so cute. always playing together and talking to each other. They love to hug each other now too. Sometimes they get a little carried away with the hugging and fall over. And when Celia calls him in her cute little voice he always comes right over to her with a big smile on his face. Ah, young love!

9) I've been reading The China Study. It took a while to get into it, but this weekend I read a large chunk and now I'm hooked. It is fascinating and very convincing. I am a research, science, and facts kind of girl and this book delivers. The title is deceiving because the book actually synthesizes information from many, many research studies- not just The China Study. I even have Chris interested in moving away from animal products now that I've told him about some of the research described in the book.

10) On Saturday I was scheduled for a 12 miler. I only ran 8 miles because my foot was hurting too much. Not good, my friends. Not good. I am so worried that I won't be able to run the marathon. This week I will be sticking to the elliptical until Thursday, and will try a short run then. I have an appointment with Dr. Dreamboat next Tuesday- only 5 days before the marathon. I am praying that it's just my pinched nerve acting up really severely, and that a cortisone shot will fix it. This all has me feeling very stressed.

Sorry to be such a Negative Nelly today! I just happen to have a lot going on at once, and it's causing a bit of stress. Also, I have to say that being without my therapy (blogging!) for a few days has made it worse. This really is something I love. So, I will post as much as possible this week and hopefully the blog will be back to normal soon!

  1. You do have a lot going on, i don't blame you for being stressed. Before a race, I always freak out about any pain or anything. One of these times I am going to fall and sprain my ankle or something before!
