Yesterday Chris's sister and her husband were having a joint 40th birthday party, so we went down to stay at his parents' house over night. Celia got to see a lot of people and was actually pretty overwhelmed by it. She did have fun seeing familiar people and playing in a little pool, and got to have ice cream. I didn't get any pictures at the party. Things were just too busy and Celia was always moving around with different people. I did get some shots with my phone when she was wearing rollers in her hair. For some reason she is fascinated by her Nonna's rollers and always wants to put them in her hair too.
I got a 13 mile run in yesterday. It went well and I averaged a 10:00 pace, although my ankles have been bothering me since (a years old issue with hypermobile joints). I've stepped up my stretching and hopefully that will take care of it. Tomorrow may need to be an extra rest day.
For some reason I could not fall asleep last night. Just as I was finally about to, Celia woke up crying a couple of times and that stressed me out and kept me awake even longer. Chris couldn't sleep either and this morning we were both tired. Luckily, Celia's cousins had also slept over and Pita was kept very busy and entertained all morning. She had a great time with them and is now old enough that she really plays and interacts with them like a little kid! Chris and I got to go out for a while, and we got coffee (of course) and a snack. Then we went to get a sweatshirt and new slippers for me and a jacket for him.
I also finished reading The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. This was such a good book. I had it on my to-read list for a while, but wasn't all that excited about it. I finally got it from the library and couldn't put it down. The book's description really doesn't do it justice, because it was much more exciting than I expected it to be. Interesting characters and relationships, twists and turns, mystery- it was really good.
We headed home at Pita's nap time today. She was still tired when we got home, so she slept for about another hour in her crib. Then we decided to go out for ice cream and take it to a nice shady park. It was so hot out today that even the shade was too hot for Celia. She was so hot and flushed that we were worried she'd overheat, so we went home instead of staying to play. We had dinner, played outside, put Pita to bed, and I'm happy to be sleeping in my own bed tonight!
Tomorrow is Celia's first full day back at daycare. I'm a little nervous about leaving her all day, but she will be fine.
