snuggle monkey

This morning Celia and I went to the music class we're taking. She definitely is going to need to go a few more times before she knows what's going on and starts participating. I think she's just confused by the whole situation of being in a room with a bunch of other kids and their parents, with music playing and everybody singing. She did have fun, but didn't participate at all like she does when we sing or dance at home. She kind of just wandered around the room watching everything. When I asked her if she had fun at her music class she looked up with a big smile and said "Yeah!"

Last night I ended up having a great run. It was supposed to be at marathon pace, but I ran a bit faster just to see how it would go. I missed my goal time by sixteen seconds, all because I had to stop when I got chased by a neighbor's dogs. So annoying. Literally every time I run by, these dogs chase me down the street. Anyway... Another evening run tonight, but a short one. Then I'm off tomorrow and have a special run planned for Saturday.

Today is another cloudy day, but it's actually nice because that makes it cooler! Celia and I played outside after her music class this morning and I'm sure we'll go out later too. Pita also helped me pick our first ripe tomato this morning! Can't wait to try it in sandwiches tonight. It's also nice to see Celia learn about plants and flowers, and to see how we grow food and where her food comes from. As soon as we picked the tomato today, she was so excited that she immediately tried taking a big bite! Judging by my students at work, most kids know that food comes from the supermarket and have no idea where it really comes from or how it is (or should be) produced.

In the past week, Celia has slept all the way through the night twice without waking me up! One night she slept from 7:15 to 6:00 am, and last night she slept from 7:15 to about 5:15. I rocked her at 5:15 and she went back to sleep until after 6. I hope this becomes more of a trend.

Don't we have one of the most accommodating cats you've ever seen?

  2. I have the fondest memories of Music Together from the time Emily was 5months - 18months... after that, she absolutely refused to participate and was much more interested in running free at the park. I bet she WILL get the hang of it and it's obvious she's having a great time, regardless of her direct participation level. :)

P.S. I'm so jealous of your garden, I have no room for one but have the drive/motivation and desire. *sigh*
