quarantined

After Celia's restless nap on Friday it turned out that she had a fever. She has finally caught the hand-foot-mouth disease that has been going around daycare. I was hoping she wouldn't get it because she was only there for a couple of mornings to be exposed to it. So, we've been hanging out at home for most of the weekend and we'll have to keep her away from other kids all week. Unfortunately she hasn't been sleeping well. I think we'll be back to square one with sleeping once she recovers, which is disappointing because last week she was sleeping all the way through the night! I know it will happen again eventually, so it's okay (I guess...arg). It's funny, I always pictured hand-foot-mouth disease to be something really gross and unusual. Any disease involving hands, feet, and mouth all at once must be, right? I had no idea that it's just a regular old virus and is very common in young children.

Yesterday I had a 14 mile long run. It was pretty hot and humid, and my pace really slowed at times because there were a lot of steep hills. I wish I'd done it faster, but it got done and let me tell you- 14 miles is quite a distance to cover on foot. It's something you don't really think about when you're driving. Chris met me at a park at the end of my run because I ended up deciding not to do an out-and-back and hadn't planned out a loop course. At one point I was about 10 miles from home, and it felt pretty strange that I'd gotten there on my own two feet. Today I felt great, just a little soreness in the morning. I'm ready for a 7 miler tomorrow!

I think I can take Celia out to run errands and play at the park this week, but we'll have to stay away from play dates and possibly miss her music class. She'll keep my on my toes all day tomorrow, I'm sure.
