our thursday

It is hot, hot, hot out today. 90 degrees in the shade and so humid. The humidity is what really gets me. This morning I went for my run early before Chris left for work. I accidentally slept late (which I really can't complain about- thanks, Celia), so I ended up having to get out for my run only 20 minutes after waking up. I hate running first thing in the morning. I need at least an hour to wake up, eat, drink coffee and water, and loosen up a little. So between those factors and the fact that the air quality resembled toilet water, I felt like a pile of junk during my run. Probably the first run since marathon training started that I just wanted to get through and get over with. So, I will not be rushing morning runs again.

This morning Celia and I went shopping at an outdoor mall. We returned some shoes, got her a couple of shirts, and I looked for a top for myself but couldn't concentrate with Celia fussing to be put down and then running away from me in the store. I did get a nice smelling candle on clearance for five dollars. I usually get natural ones that don't funk up the air with chemicals, but the price was just too good and I have a little weakness for Yankee Candles. After shopping, we sat on a bench to have snack before heading home, but it was getting so hot that we just had some water and went to the car. Celia was a little disappointed because for some reason she loves sitting on benches, and she kept looking in my bag for her snack. On the way home, I looked back to check on her a couple of times and she was lying back in her seat, gazing at me and smiling. I can't believe she just sits there smiling! She looked so content.

Celia is really, really into shoes lately. This morning I found her standing with both of her feet inside one of Chris's dress shoes. Wish I'd gotten a picture. She also got the idea to put her socks and shoes on her baby this afternoon.

Our town's farmers' market opens today with a strawberry festival. I think we'll head over there later in the day when (hopefully) it will be a little cooler. I am just such a wimp when it comes to summer heat. I wouldn't mind moving even further north than we already are.
