busy weekend

We're in the midst of a busy weekend.

(Celia just learned what "smile" means, and she makes a contorted smile face with her eyes closed when I ask her to smile)

Yesterday I ran 8 miles. My foot did bother me a little, but it was okay. Other than that I felt great. I'm starting to feel intimidated because a month from now, 8 miles is going to be nothing compared to the mileage I'll be getting into. Plus, according to my sophisticated calculations 8 miles isn't even a third of a marathon! Who knew? I have a lot more running to do...

After my run, I went through my recovery routine and Chris went for his run and got a few things done. Last night Chris's sister and niece came to watch Celia while we went to a party for a friend graduating from law school. We had a good night out, and Celia had a great time with her Zia and cousin. She even woke up at 4:30 this morning calling their names (and luckily went right back to sleep when I went in and gave her a binky).

We were all up early this morning and have already gotten a lot accomplished. Celia has been a little bored and cranky, so we've been giving her attention while doing chores around the house and getting ready for the week. Right now Chris and Celia are taking a drive to test out her newly front-facing car seat! He says she's been jabbering away about everything she can see out the window. After Pita's nap we're heading to a party at a co-worker's house. And, this week will be my last week of work before summer vacation! I'll be saying goodbye to a handful of kids moving on to kindergarten, but I have other students staying for next year. Hopefully it will be an uneventful week of wrapping things up, because I've already finished up all of my evaluations, meetings and reports. This school year has seen enough drama!

  2. I agree, it is time for a relaxing summer!
Now, I do the same mind game thing with a marathon- thinking "NO!!! I still will have another 18 miles to run in a marathon!" however, it is so different that day- you will be there in no time!
