guilty pleasure

Tonight I am faced with too much of a good thing. One of my greatest guilty pleasures is reading magazines. I'm not going to justify this in any way because that's the whole point of it being a guilty pleasure, right? It's nothing but junk food for my brain and I love it. Anyway, there's nothing I like more than parking myself on the couch (or even better, in a bubble bath) and reading one of my magazines. I read all kinds- home and decorating, family and parenting, cooking, fitness, entertainment. I have a problem, I really do.

As if that wasn't enough, I also have a little catalog problem. Yep, I know. It sounds super, super exciting and writing this just now I wonder how much of a life one can have if a favorite past time is perusing catalogs a la Meg Swan (any Best in Show fans out there?). I love to pretend shop. I dog ear pages of clothes I'd buy and daydream about how fabulous I'd be if I had them. Then I throw the catalogs in the recycling bin.

So you see, I really do have a bit of an obsession with magazines and catalogs. And the mailman is my enabler. This afternoon I was delighted to find this bounty of catalogs in the mailbox:

Add this to the pile of magazines already waiting to be read,

and I have a serious backlog of reading material. It's almost too much of a good thing because I don't have a whole lot of free time to read these days.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some reading to do.

  1. I've resisted the Twilight books as well, but since so many people love them, I've wondered if I'm truly missing out. Let me know if they're worth picking up.

  2. Guilty pleasures help make life a little easier, right? There's nothing wrong with them once in a while! At least...that's what I tell myself when I eat Girl Scout cookies...
