I wasn't worried about the actual procedure, but was worried that she wouldn't be able to eat almost all day! Celia is such a good kid, I tell you. She was a little anxious about what would happen at the doctor, but she seemed fine after we talked in detail about everything that would happen. She was most worried about having to miss school! She loves school.
We kept Pita up late last night, to feed her as much extra food as we could and in hopes that she would sleep late in the morning. Unfortunately she didn't sleep very late. We could give her apple juice and water, so I made her some popsicles and slush so she'd feel like she was eating something. And I downloaded Frozen so she could watch it. She was excited about that. We hadn't seen it yet, and I was glad because this was the perfect time to use it to keep her occupied. Henry wore his leprechaun hat, haha.
Celia is so cute when she watches movies. She's so sensitive. Within the first five minutes, a couple of sad things happened and she cried a little.
Nana and Grandpa arrived to watch Henry, and Celia and I got ready to leave. She got a little upset and said she was hungry a few times, poor thing. But once we got to the hospital she was kept distracted and actually enjoyed herself. The nurses kept her busy playing with stickers while we waited, and I got to go in with her until she fell asleep. It was over quickly and Pita and I snuggled and she had popsicles until she was ready to go home. She was such a good girl, and we're all happy that it's over now.

Oh, thank God it's over and it all went well!!! That must have been hard - not only to withhold food {denying a child basic needs is heart-wrenching} but to trust in the surgeons!
ReplyDeletePS - What are "tubes"?!?
Awww, that is so sweet about her watching movies :(. I remember that with not eating before surgery and trying to keep her up late. I was so worried. I had all the same feelings. Sedona was a little bit younger though so that helped some.
