2 years

I was thankful for all kinds of things this Thanksgiving, but especially that this little guy turned two years old that day!

Stats: We'll know Henry's weight when he has his physical in a couple weeks. He wears size 24 month clothes, and has some 2T shirts that fit. All the 24 month pants are too long, so I have a lot of hemming to do. He has still been in some 18 month pants too. He just moved to size 7 toddler shoes.

Schedule: Henry sleeps from about 7:40 at night, to around 6 or 6:30 in the morning. A typical day at home looks like this-
6:20 Wakes up, hides under his blanket until I get him. We go downstairs, and he has a drink and a sauce pouch or cereal while watching Paw Patrol.
7:30 Has more breakfast with Celia, gets dressed, and plays.
9:00-11:00 Play at home, or go out to run errands/play somewhere.
11:30 Lunch, then play.
1:00 Read books, then go upstairs for nap around 1:20
3:30 Wake up, have snack, and play.
5:00 Sometimes watches a show while I make dinner.
5:30 Eat dinner, then play and have a bath.
7:20 Read books, brush teeth
7:40 Bedtime

Language & Cognitive: Henry understands everything we say to him. He follows complex directions, answers questions, knows the word for pretty much everything. Expressively, he uses full sentences a lot of the time now. He asks questions, talks about all kinds of things, and often says surprising things you wouldn't expect him to. He's a smart little guy and I love hearing his little voice. The way he talks is so cute. Henry's pretend play is always changing and getting more complex. He does more pretend play by himself how, coming up with his own play schemes. Right now he's also really into hiding under blankets. He spends a good part of the day walking around with a blanket draped over his head, hiding under it, pretending with it, having other people hide with him. He also likes to dress up and pretend all kinds of things. He pretends he's going to work or to a restaurant. Lately he has gotten into playing with Little People, but he doesn't play for long unless I sit and play with him.

Social/Behavioral: Henry is definitely in the midst of terrible toddlerhood. He is usually a happy little guy, and is usually very good about following directions, taking turns, helping around the house, etc. But if he's in a certain mood and something doesn't go his way- whoa boy, watch out. Usually when he's really cranky it's because he's hungry, and if we get a snack in his belly he's okay after that.

Motor: Henry goes up and down stairs by himself (with an adult spotting him). I prefer to hold his hand or have a hand on him somewhere, but he is quite insistent on doing it himself and is actually very competent. He is also getting more coordinated at running, galloping, jumping, and climbing/getting down off of things.

Henry's personality gets better and better. He is funny and smart, charming, thoughtful and empathetic (he will ask if you're okay if something happens to you!), and responsible (actually follows through when he's supposed to do something, cleans things up, etc.). I'm now accepting proposals for arranged marriage, and we have some takers from the girls at daycare. Ha! He is such a sweet little boy and we will have a lot of fun with him in his third year.
