friday with Henry

Celia is at my parents' house for a sleepover, so we have just Henry for a couple days. I always forget how much more easy and relaxed it is when you only have one little person in the house. We are having a great day today. This morning we did Face Time with Celia. Henry knows she is gone and talks about her, and points out her things around the house, but I think he also enjoys having Chris and me to himself. Celia had almost her first three years alone with us, but Henry hardly ever has an extended time with just Mommy and Daddy.

So blurry, but he has a cute smile.
Henry had breakfast and then we went grocery shopping. I thought I'd be brave and take Henry with me, so I wouldn't have to go during the weekend. He sometimes does okay at the store, but sometimes is kind of horrible. He can't stand sitting in the cart, so it makes it difficult. Today he wouldn't stay in the cart, but he let me put him down and he would walk with me. He liked helping put things in the cart, although he sometimes got frustrated because he couldn't quite reach and wanted to do it "self". I also had to distract him from the food, because he would see things going in the cart that he wanted to eat right away. Wegman's has a train track suspended from the ceiling with a model train, and Henry loved that.

A couple of women were admiring Henry's cuteness as he walked down an aisle with me, and nearly keeled over from cuteness overload when they heard me call his name. "Henry" is such a great name because it's adorable for a little boy, but also a strong and classic name for a grown man. At least I think so. Anyway, we survived the store and actually had a good time. It did take probably twice as long as it would if I went by myself. I finally got Brother in the cart for the ride out to the car.

We got home and played, nursed, and had lunch. Then I wanted to get a little dinner prep done before nap time, so I worked in the kitchen while Henry played in the cabinets. He had a great time taking things out of cabinets and drawers, playing music with spoons and containers, and pretending to cook. Every time he opened a new cabinet he would look in and say "Aha!"

We read some books and Henry went for his nap. I finished up in the kitchen and am enjoying some rare free time. There are things I could get done, but I hardly ever have any "fun" time during the day so I'm writing and going to read magazines. It was a good mail day today:

I know, I know, Us Weekly. It is trash. But good trash. My guilty pleasure. It's a beautiful day and we will play outside after Henry wakes up.
