We have had a low-key day here.
There were a few local fall festivals and I wanted to go to one, but it was cloudy and wet so we didn't do that. Chris went to play in a golf tournament, so it was just me with the kids. We played at home before lunch and I made macaroni and "cheese". The sauce base is white beans and potato- very healthy and it was perfect for a grey day.
Even Henry tried it- his first mac and "cheese", and he loved it! This guy really knows how to pack away food.
Henry was very cranky after lunch. I think after not sleeping well last night, he was still tired. Celia seems to be coming down with a cold today, so I wanted her to nap too. Miraculously, they both took naps! Hallelujah! I don't even know when that happened last, but today was a good day for it. I cleaned up the kitchen and relaxed for a while while they were sleeping. I thought about going to an indoor playground in the afternoon, but Henry was up a few times last night and Celia was up once, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to chase two of them around an indoor playground by myself. Instead we went out to pick up something easy for dinner and got Henry his first pair of shoes. In the checkout line we heard the kids behind us asking their mother if things were vegan and if they had cow milk in them. Celia was just staring, fascinated by it. We have never met another vegan family. It was so neat! So the mom and I talked a little and the kids were talking to Celia, and then we went to the grocery store and saw them again! Celia was just fascinated by them and kept asking about them all the way home.
The stores were really busy and we got home just in time to get dinner ready. We ate and then Chris got home. I realized the shoes I bought Henry were not in my shopping bag, so now I have to go back tomorrow and tell them that I paid for the shoes but never got them. Very annoying. Anyway... time to read a book at go to bed early. Hopefully everyone will sleep better tonight.
