1) I could use another weekend to recover from the weekend. We ended up going to Chris's parents' to help them pack up their house. Obviously a lot got done with a baby and a three-year-old to take care of too... The best part was when the kids were both napping (which is the best time get anything done) Chris's mom and I immediately started taping up boxes and packing stuff, and Chris and his dad spent the time snoring away on the couch. Not because they'd been working all morning, but because watching the Masters is just so exhausting. This was after Chris had made a big deal about how we all had to go down for the whole weekend so he could help his dad. Classic.
2) Today I'm just hanging out with this guy,
and getting stuff done around the house during naps.
3) I'm tired. It's a lot of work being away with a baby. Packing everything up, trying to keep it organized while we're gone, unpacking and putting it all away when we get home, catching up on the laundry, keeping him on schedule... Chris does not understand. For him, there isn't any work to do when we're away from home. He can sit and relax. I still have all the work I normally have- taking care of the kids, feeding them, keeping them on schedule, etc, except it's harder because we're not at home with everything set up the way we're used to. Then once home, I have twice the work because I've been missing doing laundry and housework. Husband cannot comprehend why I don't think it's fun and relaxing to spend a weekend away (or a whole week- boy am I looking forward to our summer "vacation"). He thinks I'm just uptight and that I need to "relax". He's big on relaxing. Must be nice. Sheesh, I'm really on a roll here. Maybe I should have devoted the whole post to this topic.
4) There were a few new flowers waiting for us when we got home yesterday.
5) Today I'm making a vegan version of frito salad for dinner, and two lasagnas- one for tomorrow and one to freeze. The lasagna "cheese" is made with nuts, so I will be off my very low-fat diet for a night I guess...
6) I showed how I made over and reorganized my kitchen counters last week and I'll bet you all thought I really had it together over here. Just to clear that up, here's a look at my pantry. Ha!
I buy a lot of bulk nuts, seeds and grains, and they end up a jumbled mess. I need to get containers to pour them into so they stay organized and more neat looking.
7) I'm not a fan of the new Blogger design. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.
Time to get a couple things done before Henry wakes up from his nap!

What an exhausting weekend, you poor thing!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand where you're coming from. My husband doen't get why I don't like to travel more often on the weekends either. The packing and unpacking is enough to drive you nuts. It's different with th inlaws too, you feel like you have t help more since you're the guest. It's not like the hubby who is truly "home".
oh goodness totally feel you on vacation. I am exhausted from getting back and instead of cleaning im playing on the computer ;)
ReplyDeleteGirl, my pantry looks like that too and I even have containers to put everything in I just get so behind on actually doing it. At least we have a door to close to hid it
Its fun to come back from a few days and see what has grown in the yard. Have a good week.
ReplyDeletei agree - going away with a baby can be so much more work than its worth. my son sleeps so much better in his own crib & that makes all the difference as far as what kind of day we're going to have!
ReplyDeleteOh, yes... #3! Nolan is 10months old and we have yet to go anywhere overnight. No way, no how! I cannot even imagine it. Ugh, I just did and it's not pretty. You are a better wife and daughter-in-law than I! ;)
ReplyDeleteDarlin, by no means am I really comparing your mom duties to my puppy duties, but I feel ya on the leaving thing - packing up and traveling with three dogs is ridiculous, I can't even imagine how hard it must be to pack for kids!
ReplyDeleteSo much easier just to stay put and relax at home...
Glad you all are back safe and sound :)
1 - so VERY classic, indeed.
ReplyDelete2 - I miss those napping days.
3 - AMEN, Sister! They. Don't. Get. It. At. All.
I really, really need to get myself together on the organized healthy cooking agenda...
Just stopping out from Kelli's (outside my kitchen window).
ReplyDeleteMy daughter didn't start sleeping well until almost 10 months. I still don't know how mom's function on such little sleep. But after some sleep training and heavy scheduling we finally are getting 10 hours a night out of her. Thank God- cause this mom was losing it!
And I am right there with you on vacations! Hubby thinks it fun to head out of town for the night and I think he has lost his mind. Men just don't see it our way, cause even if we aren't physically doing something, our mind is still working thinking of all the things that have to be done soon.
And I just completely reorganized my pantry- you can see it here http://thegimlinfamily.blogspot.com/2012/04/my-pantry-overhaul.html. The containers are the best and I got them ALL at Ross/Marshall's for much cheaper :)
