monday miscellany- 31 weeks

1) We're really getting into the home stretch now, at 31 weeks. I have a lot to do, including reading a couple of new baby books, getting out all the baby things and setting up his room, getting going on my hypnobirthing practice, and making and freezing food for after the new guy is born. In the last week, third trimester stuff has definitely hit. Maybe I won't elaborate- ha! Those of you who've been pregnant know what those things might be. But I'm also just feeling slower and more worn out, and things like bending over to pick something off the floor (a common task with a 2-year-old in the house) are getting to be difficult. I'm also pretty sure I waddled yesterday. I've started having a lot of Braxton Hicks in the past week, too. They're more uncomfortable than I remember them being with Celia.

I'm starting to long for my normal thinner body, and made the mistake of looking back at my earlier pregnancy pictures. The difference between 4 weeks and 31 is a big one!

I don't know how that's even possible. What's scarier is that I still have nine more weeks to get even bigger.

2) I could tell Pita was happy to be home after two nights away on Saturday night. She spent a long time patting China and then got reacquainted with all her toys. She was also very happy to see Chris. It's funny how she's a little homebody like I am.

3) It's suddenly feeling like fall around here. Saturday night we had a roaring fire in the fireplace and it was almost too hot. Awfully pretty and nice, though.

4) What are your kids being for Halloween? I need to come up with something for Celia soon.

5) The new guy's room is painted! The color looks great. Yesterday we moved the furniture back in the room, I got the dresser drawers lined, and now we can start getting smaller things out and ready. The room is very small so it's hard to get a good picture, but maybe this will show the wall color a little. It's a muted blue that looks greenish in some light, and greyish at other times.

6) I sent my maternity leave notice to four administrators on Friday. Never heard anything back. I wonder if they figured out maybe I was a little unhappy with the way I've been treated this year. Chances are, they didn't make that connection...

7) Speaking of work, I met a bunch of girlfriends from my old building for dinner last night. Fantastic. I can't believe things changed so suddenly and I don't get to work with them anymore. But- I normally have a lot of contractions that I swear are stress-related the day/night before a workday, and last night I didn't have any. Having those girls to laugh with about everything just may keep me from delivering early :D

8) Outfit of the Week:

She found a bag she liked in my closet and asked if she could use it. The girl loves bags. She also apparently still loves her binky. She's so sneaky now because she'll disappear upstairs and come back with it, and if I ask her what she's doing she won't tell me because she knows she isn't supposed to have it! I'll ask what she's doing and she'll say "Nothing", or "I'll be right back", or "I just have to get something". She never admits she's going to get the binky. What a character.
