Just trying to enjoy the last of summer vacation around here...
This morning I had some errands to do, so Celia and I got ready and headed out. I had a gift card to use at a consignment place, so we went and found a few fall clothes for her. I can find the best stuff, and if I'm picky I usually come away with either brand new (tags still on) or barely used clothes. I've gotten her several Gymboree, Oshkosh and J Crew things that I never would buy full price. The store had a little play house for sale and Celia played in it while I looked around. She would love a play house in our yard- I'm hoping Chris could build one next spring. After that, we stopped at CVS and then we were going to do grocery shopping but I had forgotten my list at home. I didn't want to forget half the things I needed and come home with things we didn't need at all, so we just skipped the store and went home.
On the way home Celia decided to pretend she was Cinderella. It's her newest thing. Today she was Cinderella, our car was her coach (that would suddenly turn back into a pumpkin at random times), and I had to be the fairy godmother. I think I have a Halloween costume idea for her now... The only problem is that we're not into princess stuff at our house, and Celia really doesn't associate with the whole princess thing. She just likes the story, the magic parts of it, and the characters. So, I would have to be a little creative about the costume to make it more about the story and less about fancy clothes. Maybe the costume could be Cinderella's raggedy dress, and she could carry a little pumpkin and have the second glass slipper in her pocket? Hmm...

After lunch I allowed myself a Diet Coke as a treat (and for caffeine...) and Celia went to play by herself while I picked up in the kitchen. Celia came to get me because she wanted to show me how she had lined up all her Little People. She told me "They're in line to get doughnuts!" She pointed to all the people and told me what kind of doughnuts they were all going to have (chocolate for all the kids, and jelly for the grown ups). Then the Little People airplane arrived and they all got on the plane ("with their doughnuts") and went on "a special trip" to Storyland. She comes up with the best story lines. Then we read stories for a while and I took her up for a nap.
Hoping the thunderstorms will hold off later today so we can play outside some more.
