versatile blogger award

Kerri passed the Versatile Blogger award to me the other day. Kerri and I have gotten to know each other fairly recently and she's certainly a versatile blogger herself, writing about all different aspects of her life and how motherhood fits into it all. So, thank you Kerri, and I'm happy to pass this on to others!

This was passed to me with ten specific questions to answer, but I did some research on the award and it was originally intended that recipients would tell ten things about themselves that their readers probably wouldn't know. About seven bloggers before it reached me, someone changed it to the questions. So, I'm changing it back because many of the questions were about things like makeup and clothes, which I have very little interest in and wouldn't give very interesting answers to. Here goes!

1. I minored in French in college, and had enough credits to make it a double major if I had wanted to go abroad and write a thesis. I thought and had dreams in French. I took history, literature, and philosophy courses in French. Loved it. I should really keep up with reading French language magazines and books, just so I don't completely lose it all.

2. Because I was fluent in French, it was easy to learn the other romance languages. I became proficient in Spanish and Italian too.

3. Let's talk about dairy. I hadn't had dairy in a very long time until Blub and I went out for lunch this week. As hard as I tried to keep it vegan, I'm pretty sure there was some kind of dairy in the appetizer we had. This was confirmed when I had some, um, issues the next morning...

4. That's okay because it's fodder for potty humor, which I never quite grew out of.

5. Here's another piece of info from days of yore: About halfway through graduate school, I decided I really wanted to be a doctor. Oops! I researched medical schools, admission requirements, and where I could take the prerequisites I needed. I would have had to take a lot of classes, since I didn't major in pre-med. Also, I would have been throwing away the grad school program I was already halfway through. And don't even get started on the astronomical costs. So, I am a speech pathologist. Once in a while Chris and I still talk about med school, but it isn't realistic at all.

6. I would also love to be a writer. That's probably more realistic. Maybe we should rename this post "What I Want to Be When I Grow Up".

7. I am not a dog person. Please relay this information to Blub, who is under the delusion that we will someday have one.

8. One of my New Year goals was to be more patient with Blub and his man brain. I must admit it isn't going well.

9. I don't think I'd want to live anywhere other than New England. As crazy as the weather can be, I love the seasons. Though it wouldn't be bad to live where it's nice year round for my running.

10. I sort of want to home school our kids. On the other hand, if we could afford a good private school that would be even better. We probably won't end up doing either one...

Now I need to send this on to 7 other bloggers whose blogs I've recently discovered. Tell your readers ten things about yourself that you might not have divulged before, and pass the award on to seven new people at blogs that are fairly new to you.

These women all have blogs that are relatively new to me. They are:

Sarah Denley
Kelly
Brie
Kelley
Jessica
Melissa
Erin

  3. Thanks for the tag! I will have to do this later in the week :) I tried to take both french and spanish and could never speak them. I was able to kind of understand what people were saying and sort of read the languages but never make them come out of my mouth. So fun that you can! Loved reading your 10 things
