The consensus on my new snacking habit is that no one knows what the heck Popchips are. Allow me to enlighten you, because they are amazing and addictive! They're potato chips that are somehow "popped", not baked or fried. They're low fat and low calorie, and pricey but we get them as a treat every so often.
Early this morning I woke to (what else?) a new coating of snow on the ground. Are my weather reports starting to sound like a broken record? Speaking of broken records, I guess kids these days wouldn't even know what that saying meant.
I gave Celia some breakfast and she watched about half of a Sesame Street episode while I got laundry together and injured my neck while blowing my nose. Yep. I gave a big blow, and something went wrong in the vicinity of my cervical vertebrae. Every so often I get muscle spasms in my neck and it's painful and stiff for a few days. Hopefully it won't get too bad. I recovered slightly from the nose blowing injury and made a to-do list for the next few days.
Then Pita and I went upstairs and she took a nice bath in the regular bathtub! She got all washed and dressed, and we talked about going to the bookstore to play in the children's area. Unfortunately there isn't much to do these days with the weather so bad. We waited until late morning so the roads would be clear, and went to the book store and out to lunch. Oh, and got Pita a new pair of sunglasses (because the fish ones, as fun as they are, aren't actually usable as real sunglasses). They are big and will last her a long time.
When we got home it was almost nap time. Two hours and two nap attempts later, Celia was still refusing to go to sleep. 3:00 rolled around. My neck was still hurting. Celia was tired but clearly not going to take a nap. She was just going crazy and being destructive with her toys, and I was trying to deal with a stressful work situation over email that I'd been planning to work on during her nap. Finally I said something like "Let's go out to the store since you're not sleeping, just so Mommy doesn't go crazy." Celia responded, "You not crazy, Mommy. Celia crazy!" Glad to know it's not me... Overtired tantrums ensued, and with the exception of an hour spent driving around in the car (she finally fell asleep that way) the rest of the afternoon was one long tantrum. All she wanted to do was roll around on the floor making tortured crying wild animal noises. Wild, tortured, feral animal. This is clearly a kid who can't afford to miss her nap! There was nothing I could do until about 5:30 when I finally got her to calm down and got her interested in playing with a flashlight. Then we played with her dollhouse for a while and she was finally calm enough to just sit and watch tv until Chris got home. I figured that would be guaranteed not to set her off again. I ate leftover cake for dinner, made microwaved mac and cheese and peas for Celia, and Chris had to fend for himself when he got home. The to-do list? Untouched, with the exception of laundry that's not even half done.
Bah! Good day.

What a day! Bless your heart!
