terrible twos

Today Chris and I had the day off. Celia still went to daycare because it's only a few days a week, she loves it there, we pay for it no matter what, and Chris and I both had things we could get done without her home. The morning started off normally enough. Pita had some breakfast, played with her Little People house and watched some Sesame Street.

Just look at those cheeks. The absolute best for kissing.
I told Blub that I thought we should pretend it was just a regular morning so Pita wouldn't be thrown off if I was still home when she had to leave for daycare. Usually I leave first, and I knew Celia wouldn't want to leave if I was still home. But Chris gave his typical reaction of "Don't worry about it, she'll be fine". Riiiiight. Sure enough, Celia had a big meltdown when it was time to leave. I finally ended up pretending to leave for work so things would seem somewhat normal. Lesson learned. Never ask husband what he thinks. Simply decide what's best, tell him what he needs to do, and do it.

Anyway, we continued to have an interesting day. We went to Panera for lunch and saw the absolute best comb-over in the history of comb-overs. You would not believe this guy's hair- grown super, super long in the back and combed up all the way over the front of his head. It was impressive. After that, we went to get one of Celia's Christmas presents. She's getting a Calico Critters house and we went to pick it up. I also picked out a little bear family and a few pieces of furniture. Celia's going to like playing with this for many years, and there are so many things we can add over time.

I may or may not have opened everything and played with it myself when we got it home... Can't wait to get some more furniture!

Oh, I almost forgot the best part of the day. We decided to stop and have my car looked at because there has been a strange noise coming from one of the wheels. Turned out that the rotors had become warped and were rubbing. So we had to have both front and rear brakes done- talk about an unexpected hit to the wallet! There's a Chinese restaurant next to the garage, so we went to dinner there before picking up the car tonight. Celia was a little wild, wouldn't sit in her highchair, and didn't even eat anything. Let's just say that I didn't exactly enjoy my dinner :). I ended up leaving with her as soon as I could, and Chris stayed behind and brought my car home. I think it will still be a long time before we can go out to eat and actually enjoy ourselves.

So, I am exhausted. Early to bed tonight!
