Here are today's miscellaneous items, in no particular order.
1) Wow! It's already August! That snuck up on me. Now it feels as if I'm really in the home stretch of summer vacation. Must. Enjoy. Every. Last. Minute.
2) Speaking of enjoying the end of summer, Celia and I are leaving Chris at home today and heading up to stay with my parents. We're going to have a fabulous time. Pita sure is getting a lot of travel in all of a sudden!
3) Speaking of travel (these items aren't really miscellaneous after all, are they?), I may not post much for a few days since we're busy and the good old internets are less accessible.
4) My random posts often end up being far from random, really. One thing reminds me of another, which leads to something else, and so on. Hmm, that gives me an idea...
5) I was wrong about my next really long run. It's not 16 miles, it's 17! Not sure how I can do that, but I suppose I wouldn't have thought I could do 15 a few months ago, and 10 is a piece of cake at this point.
6) I found out that I lost a few pounds while sick. Not the type of weight loss I was thinking of when I mentioned losing a little could make me a faster runner. Now that I'm eating again it will probably come back anyway.
7) A lot of Indian people live in our neighborhood. Sometimes I see Indian men (usually older) taking a stroll with a book. They walk very slowly and look so serious. I can't tell if they're reading the books or just carrying them. Maybe some sort of walking meditation? Or maybe they just like to read while walking. I am curious about this.
8) I was so, so excited to see my Pita come home last night! As it turned out, she never fell asleep the whole ride home so she got to see me too. She was wide awake so I gave her a bath and went through her normal bedtime routine. She ended up going to sleep over an hour later than usual.
9) Chris said that Celia was the most well-behaved kid at the wedding :). She is such a good girl.
10) Pita's Nonna and Nonno of course sent her home with a few new toys. One is a Fisher Price toy cd player. You know, with the plastic cds that slide into place and play a song? Do you remember the record player version of this that was popular 30 years ago?
I understand what you mean about the home stretch of summer. I will be heading back to school this fall, too(as an elementary teacher). That is awesome that you are a speech pathologist!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! I had a record player like that. Today I am being reminded of my age --- between Carissa's post about the zippered bathing suit and the picture of my fave record player.
ReplyDeleteGreat Miscellany. I enjoyed reading it!
I can't believe that it's August either...time is flying by. Good luck with your run...you can do it. That record player really took me back!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could read while I walked. They must be very skilled :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun on your trip! Enjoy!
Congrats on the running! That's great! Reading and walking is interesting..Never tried it. Thanks for your randomness

LOL Walking Meditation!! I feel the same way when I see men like that. There are a lot of them around here and they do almost the same thing. I wonder if it's something men of their race do!?
ReplyDeleteI participated in Miscellany Monday too if you want to come visit us. :)
