hello summer

We're back from a busy weekend away, and today is the start of summer and my summer vacation. So far, so good. It's very hot today, the sun is shining, and Celia is napping :). She also slept ALL night last night, from 7:30 to 5:30! And then I told her that it was still time to sleep, so she slept for another hour until 6:30 while I had coffee all by myself. Fantastic. Tonight will probably be back to the same old thing, but I sure enjoyed my sleep last night. I think she was just exhausted from a busy weekend.

Turns out that Tiny Pita loves the sprinkler. She runs right through it laughing and even puts her face in the water!

This morning Celia and I got groceries. When we got home she helped me unpack everything, and we played and had a snack. Then we had to go to the pediatrician because Pita has a bad sounding cough. Turns out she has an ear infection, and the cough is probably from post nasal drip. Luckily none of it seems to be bothering her. We had lunch when we got home from the doctor, and Pita went down for her nap. I'm so excited about dinner tonight, because it's making itself right now! I really want to use the slow cooker more to cut down on prep and cooking time, dirty pots and pans, and the overall stress of trying to make dinner while keeping Celia entertained. I've been having trouble finding easy recipes that don't have processed ingredients, but at this point I'm willing to give up on that a little for the convenience of an easy home-cooked dinner a couple nights a week. It will be so nice to open up the crock pot tonight and have dinner sitting there. I'm now on the search for a good slow cooker cookbook.

Tonight I start my evening runs- the only way I can fit in some of my summer runs. I hope it cools off because I'm not sure I can survive a run in this heat!
