classy living

We're having a Sunday at home. The weather has been hot, humid, and stormy on and off for several days. Today is the third day of tornado watches this week, and we've had a lot of thunderstorms. Not my favorite thing! I could never live in an area where tornadoes are commonplace.

I've been trying to rest and ice my right foot because I have a sore tendon after my run yesterday. Of course the day after I register for a marathon, I end up with a little injury! This has happened before and always gets better. I just have to be a little careful with it. I'm sure this won't be the only runner's ailment I'll be faced with in the next four months.

Celia ended up taking a nap this morning because I could tell she wouldn't make it 'till midday for one nap. Now I've put her down again and she's been singing Row, Row, Row Your Boat for the past 15 minutes. Not sure if a nap is actually going to happen...

We have been getting rid of a lot of things and putting others in storage lately. We each still had things from before we got married (like kitchen and decorating stuff) and all kinds of wedding gifts that we never use. It's ridiculous how much stuff we collect over time. We're both always thinking that maybe someday we'll reuse or re-purpose something, so we never end up throwing things out. Unfortunately we don't have the storage space we need to support this habit, and we're not interested in becoming full-fledged hoarders. Well, today I entered our powder room to find this:

It's a styrofoam cooler. And I thought Chris must have been cleaning it out before putting it away. Then he walked in and asked if I liked the new "table" (at toilet seat height and all). Ah yes! Of course it's a table. Silly me... He later removed it. I can't say it tied in very well with the rest of our decor.

Chris is out for a run (and I'm nervous because the weather seems a little scary, but the doppler looks okay), Celia is still chattering away in the crib, and I am going to need another cup of coffee while I  ice my foot. If we really want to get crazy this afternoon, we might take a trip to the new Walmart Supercenter near us. We live such exciting lives. But as I said to Chris this morning, if we're happy who cares if the most exciting thing we've done in a day was to take a trip to Walmart? And redecorate with styrofoam coolers. Yikes. We are really classing it up today.

  2. Ha- love the cooler table:) I can identify. I have so many things stashed away for "green" crafting- it's pitiful, but I hate to throw anything away.
