15 months

Celia is 15 months old today. She is doing so many things!


Language:
- Understands and responds to yes/no and simple "who", "what", and "where" questions.
- Follows 1 and 2-step directions.
- Generally understands everything we say to her. Picks up on things during adult conversation.
- Can name anything around the house and things we see outside. Names most animals, foods, household objects, toys, common actions, two colors, and prepositions/concepts like on/off, up/down, empty, hot/cold.
- Uses 1 and 2-word utterances. Some examples of 2 word phrases: "Close door", "Nana's book", "Shoe off".

 

Play/Cognitive Development:
- Loves to play outside.
- Has started being able to play independently for longer periods of time.
- Helps to sing several songs, and can request songs by singing the first line.
- Hugs, kisses, and carries around her favorite stuffed animals. Gives them food and drinks, puts them to sleep, gives them her binkie. Also pretends with her school bus, Little People and dollhouse.
- Likes to imitate household tasks. "Helps" clean floors, dust, sort laundry.
- Likes putting on hats and shoes- both her own and Mommy and Daddy's. 
- Loves to open and close containers, doors, and drawers. Takes things in and out, and moves them to different places.
- Very social. Names all the kids at daycare. Tries to engage and interact with everyone she sees when out in public or in a store.
- Pulls at her diaper and makes a face when it needs to be changed. Sometimes says "diaper" or "poop".
- Starting to exhibit some true toddler behavior. She loves to be obstinate and test her boundaries, says "no". Gets frustrated when she can't do what she wants with a toy, and sometimes throws a toy in frustration. We're teaching her to ask for help.
 


  Motor Skills:
- Walks steadily, although she gets wobbly when she's tired. Runs when she gets excited.
- Good at climbing in and out of things.
- Knows how to turn around to climb down from furniture.
-Throws, bounces, and tries to kick a ball.
- Still can't scoop with a spoon but does very well bringing a spoon to her mouth.
- Makes a tower with blocks.
- Fits Duplos together.
- Puts on hat. Tries to put shoes on. Helps with dressing and undressing.

 

Celia is such a sweet and happy little girl. She is so much fun right now!
