1 year appointment

Celia still has her fever but we're having a pretty good day today. It is freezing outside- wind up to 50 miles per hour and temperatures in the single digits. Not the best day to be out and about, but we had Celia's 12-month doctor's appointment! It turns out her ear infection is back in one ear, so back on the medicine we go. Hopefully she'll be happier with that taken care of. Her one year stats: 17 lbs 4 oz (5th percentile), 28 1/2 inches long (30th percentile). We're supposed to start getting her off of bottles and eating more solids to try to get her weight closer to the 20th percentile. To be honest, I'm not really worried about her weight because I was the same size at her age so I think some of it is genetic. She has also been sick and lost a little weight in the last two weeks. Developmentally she's doing great, so I'm not going to stress about her size.

Speaking of development, she started doing lots of cool things this month. She stands by herself for a few seconds at a time. She still has no teeth! She can put a block on top of a tower, holds the phone to her ear, brushes her hair, and combines two gestures together. Her favorite activity is emptying kitchen drawers and cabinets. Her play/cognitive skills are amazing, and she is able to come up with her own play schemes and expand on things we've shown her. The most exciting thing is that her language is EXPLODING! In the past two weeks she has gone from saying only "Dada" to saying 12 words. It is absolutely amazing to see. Every day she says something new. So while she isn't setting any records for walking or number of teeth, she's doing pretty well!

Tomorrow's her birthday party and I'm planning to post her birth story soon as I reflect on all that happened a year ago.
